Prompt 3
The god seems to grow impatient. As the activity in your room begins to heighten, your group hurriedly makes their choice, indicating the favored door. The god laughs once, an ambiguous sound, and the door swings open to reveal a void. A voice sounds out.
HAVE YOU CHOSEN WELL?
Perhaps you have time to reach the other door? Frantically, you try to scramble for the other handle but the room you are in tilts even as the jambs of your original choice widen. The floor slants steeper and steeper toward the now gaping hole of your decision. You tumble through it into boundless suspension, weightless and drifting.
You are there for seconds. You are there for centuries.
Then, your hooves hit solid footing.
IT SEEMS YOU KNOW ME AFTER ALL TO RECOGNIZE MY FIRE. HAVE SOME PEACE ON YOUR JOURNEY.
Ignacio's face appears before you, pensive. The scenery spreads out, creating itself as your gaze scans the area. Light bathes the area softly, as candles in intricate candelabra surround you. Gentle warmth permeates you, comfortably resting at the perfect temperature for each member of your group. The god speaks again, their voice almost sad this time.
UNFORTUNATELY, THE NEXT LEG OF YOUR TRAVELS WILL NOT BE AS SAFE OR SERENE. IT MUST GET WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER, MY MORTALS. LOOK BEHIND YOU.
As you turn, you realize two pathways, paved with small, pale, opalescent pebbles, stretch away from you in the distance. One curves away to your right while the other arcs to your left.
CHOOSE CAREFULLY WHAT YOU WISH TO FACE. FOR THIS THERE IS NO CORRECT ANSWER AS EACH IS A PART OF ME AND EACH HAS ITS PITFALLS. BE SAFE, CHILDREN. BUT BE QUICK.
With that, the god is gone. Under your hooves, the stones meld together, forming a plague in which carved calligraphy appears, labeling each pathway. On the left, the path reads Light. On the right, it reads Shadow. Choose carefully where you wish to tread.
