The sun was out. That was a good sign... it had meant he had somehow managed to sleep through the night without getting attacked... or worse, captured by the Aodhians that now infested the land. They were a sickness, them and the burly mountain horses that didn't know how to travel in the desert didn't belong.
They brought war and hatred and a bad taste in the air, all of which made Predwin's skin crawl. He wanted this entire business to be over... it was better fighting off thunderbirds... though he most certainly didn't mind the new alliance that had formed because of the Aodhians and their attacks.
He glanced over at the looming form of Twitter, the now domesticated thunderbird that worked at his side. Although Prid wasn't able to understand him, the two had managed a very special and close bond over the past few weeks... especially after the fight with the fire dogs.
He shuddered at the thought before pushing himself up off of the sand. "Alright, Pal, we've got to get moving."
This had been his life since the war had started in full. He'd scour the deserts, make sure there wasn't any horse from his herd that was straggling... or in need of help... and then he'd return to his sister. It was strange, not working so closely with Creo, but with his newly given blessing... it had been more bearable than before. It still made him anxious, especially now, but at least if anything happened, he'd be able to let her know he was okay.
The thunderbird nodded before the both took off, flying high over the desert lands together until a group of horses came into view.
Now was the time to find out, were they in need of help, or would there be a fight? Post 1 | Word Count: 308

The sun was beating down harshly, and Diana cursed it.
While she herself could easily stand the heat and sun, her two charges could not. Diana huffed as she heard Soleria squeal and someone laugh- again. With a subtle grace, Diana expertly opened her cloak and tucked it when the newborn dashed under it. She kept walking steadily as she brought her head down and shushed the wide-eyed filly. Soon enough, the blonde hellion calmed down and curiously roved her eyes around from the safety of Diana's cloak. Diana couldn't help but smile at the child's curiosity.
She continued to smile as she adjusted the child's giant hat and beads around her neck- beads from the mother she had yet to meet. Diana's face fell at the thought. She had heard the news of the Oasis- a impassable dome that trapped people in and out. Her heart ached at the thought of being separated from Maxi for more time.
She was snapped from her stupor at the sound of a baby's laughter Her crimson eyes looked up and smiled as Tapioca giggled to one of the warrior escorts. She couldn't help but laugh as the screamer made funny faces. With her laugh, the colt paused and turned his head back towards her. With a bright smile, the colt dashed to her side and nuzzled her shoulder. With a smirk, Diana brought her muzzle down and tickled the colt. With a squeal, Tapioca smiled and dashed away, Soleria dashing out to join him. Diana laughed as the two chased each other in a wide circle around her.
Her humor fell as she spotted a pegasus on the horizon.
She frowned and called both Tapioca and Soleria over, the two foals immediately stopping their game and dashing under her cloak. She could feel the group immediately tense up and her children whimpered underneath her cloak. With her eyes still watching the sky, Diana brought her head down and shushed the two foals. Though she still felt their trembling as they quieted.
Soon the pegasus came into view and the group readied their weapons, the warrior ahead of her readying his bow. Diana squinted her eyes against the sun and watched as the pegasus drew closer. Soon the pegasus came into range, and so did his features.
Just as the warrior was about to release his bow, Diana recognized the pegasus- Predwin!
"Wait!" Diana dashed forward -ignoring the startled whinnies of the twins- and hit the warrior just as he released the arrow. Diana ignored the angry shouts of the screamer and sighed in relief as the arrow flew far away from the stallion. She then stepped away from the group and waved her unraveled cloak, shouting "Predwin, it's me, Diana!"
Soon the group realized the figure was friendly and gave a collective sigh of relief. As Predwin came down, Diana turned on her heel and quickly put the frazzled children back under her cloak -shushing them with quiet words and nuzzles- and apologized to the warrior. Said warrior looked sheepish as he took he apology.
Diana smiled happily as Predwin landed, she slowly trotted forward and sent him a tired smile. "It's so good to see you Predwin, how have you been?"

The fly down was probably the worst part of the entire operation. From afar the enemy often could be mistaken as a Seroran caravan, and a close look was never really... safe in the skies. However, it wasn't like the fury had much of a choice, as approaching on ground was normally even riskier, as there wasn't much to hide behind in the desert. Or well, at least in this part of the desert. He pushed the thought away, focusing more on the drafts of wind that surrounded him.
As soon as the group came into view he couldn't help but feel a huge weight come off of his shoulders, though he did see an arrow from one of the screams go hissing far to his left. He ignored it, capable of understanding why his herdmate had done such a thing. These were desperate times, and sometimes safety came before that of caution.
He was glad to know that he knew this group, or well, at least knew one member of the group.
"Dana!" He smiled back as well, an equally tired equine meeting an old friend. "I'm glad to see you're okay. It's been a madhouse out here since everything started." He glanced at the group, curious to see if any were wounded, but it seemed they were all doing well. "I'm sorry if I scared any of you. It's been hard traveling out this way and I wanted to see if you were friend or foe... glad to see that it's the former... You've got quite the entourage with you." He glanced at the other members of the group, eyes falling on the two children behind the mare. He had about a half a dozen or more questions for the mare, but figured it'd be best to let her catch up with him. Post 2 | Word Count: 305

She couldn't help but let out a teary laugh, the exhaustion clear in the lines on her face. She merely waved off his words and waltzed forward, wrapping her neck around his in a desperate hug. Soon, she backed off and merely smiled at him. "It's okay, we didn't know who you were either. I'm just glad you were a friend not a foe. We've all been having a wonderful time trekking through the desert towards the Oasis." In time with her words, a round of chuckles and guffaws sounded through the group. Diana rolled her eyes. "A great time, as you can see." Her eyes were drawn down as a small growl sounded from under her cloak. The mare tutted and sent soothing words towards Tapioca, her muzzle soothing the (arguably cute) glare the foal sent Predwin's way. "Now, now, enough of that. He's nice." The foal huffed and snuggled into her side, but not before sending Predwin one last glare. While Tapioca's eyes turned away from the Fury, Soleria's were glued to the Fury and his familiar. Her wide crimson eyes looked at the pegasus in a fierce wonder. Diana only laughed and and nuzzled the foal's forelock. Soleria made a squeal in reply and buried her muzzle in Diana's side. As though realizing she was in company, Diana's head jerked up and a blush spread across her pale cheeks. She glanced between Predwin and the twins for a brief second before sending the Fury a sheepish smile. She pulled back the cloak and brought the twins forward slightly. "Predwin, these two are Soleria and Tapioca, my children. Well, not just mine. And their twins and-" Diana babbled for a bit longer before gulping and clicking her jaw shut. Her head dropped down and she sighed. She looked up at the Fury with exhaustion carved into her face. "I... I gave birth to them during my time out on the front as a medic. I was sent back to the Oasis because there is only so much you can do when you have two twins newborn foals to care for. I... I'm drowning Pred, I don't know if I'm doing everything right. It's hard not having Maxi here, and I've been on my own for so long, I thought you all were gone" She confessed. Diana then perked up as a sharp horn called- a signal from the Screamers it was time to move. The group began to slowly wander forward, horses waving and greeting the two as they walked past. Diana smiled and greeted each and every one. Soon, Soleria began to whine, wanting to move forward. Diana rolled her eyes once again and pushing the filly forward, laughing as the filly dashed out from under her cloak and began to dance about. Diana turned her head back towards Predwin and smiled tiredly, "Well, since you're here, you want to travel the rest of the way with us?"

He had to admit, it was good to hear the group was just as relieved as he was. It was too hard to see friend from foe most days, though with all that was going on, he couldn't exactly blame them for the high tensions. He smiled easily, resting back as the cloak Diana had around her practically sprung to life. He quietly watched as Diana revealed her two children, the fury's eyes suddenly widening as he realized the implications of Diana's predicament.
"Soleria and Tapioca, beautiful names for beautiful children." He whispered as the horn blew. Yes, it'd be time for them to move... he had taken so much time out of their routine already, though he was more than willing to stand and listen to his friend catch him up on her life. They both had been out of touch for so long.
Next time, if they were split, he'd write her letters... or maybe use his newly acquired blessing to visit her in a more... ghostly sense. He was still getting used to his abilities. He didn't want Diana feeling like this again, not during a war. Not while she had children to worry about as well.
The stallion felt a weight placed on his shoulders as the mare admitted that she had thought he had been gone. It had been hard, with Oasis being taken away from him and so many horses scattered because of the war... he could only imagine what it must have felt for Diana. His heartstrings were pulled as he looked down at the two twins, feeling the pain their mother was dealing with so personally.
"I'm sure you're doing just fine. The only thing I'm worried about is if the children get caught up in the dangers of this blasted fight with Aodh and the War Forged." He paused, feeling an uneasy feeling wrap up in stomach.
What would have happened if his mother had been in the same position? There was a brief moment of silence before he gently brushed against his friend. He couldn't just let her travel alone... sure, she had the caravan, but they must've been more tired than she let on.
Right. The Oasis. She must've not gotten word out that the city was no longer accessible. Slowly sucking in a breath, the stallion thought over his words. "Diana... the Oasis...." He sighed."The Oasis is... blocked. A few of the furies checked it out shortly after we dealt with a bunch of fire dogs only to find it's.... blocked. None of us know if those that were in the city... are safe..." He glanced around.
"Like I said... it's been a madhouse... but... I will most certainly travel with you. Maybe we can try to find a safe place for you to stay." Post 3 | Word Count: 472
