Featuring: Wintera & Akari
Setting: Days after the Flower Festival in Spring, before Chapter 6
It was almost like an entirely different place, the mare mused to herself. She trotted toward the central square and small shrines that were set up there, some flowers left over from the festival tucked into her mane as an offering she was going to give to Ignacio (and truthfully she was pondering giving one to Kaia, for the War Forged had been good to her so far). It was only a few days after the Flower Festival that Taend had taken her to see, and wreaths and garlands still gaily decorated windows and posts. It was bright, cheerful, matching the clear blue sky overhead. The kirin drew in a deep breath, the sun glinting from ice blue scales. It felt good to soak in the Fire Father's sun, and if she kept moving, it was just warm enough that she didn't need to wear a fur to keep warm in this cold version of hell. Truly, she didn't know how any of these equines could stand the winters and snow of this land, but they did. It gave Wintera a sense of grudging respect for the other races, that they managed to eek out a living in such conditions. And now she was too. She didn't feel like she needed to hide herself away, but she still drew uneasy stares, attention caught by her naturally armored figure and antlers. Well, they could stare all they liked. She certainly wasn't ashamed to be one of Ignacio's chosen, and she was happy to see her scales glittering in the sun once more. WC 261 | Post 1

Akari was nervous as she stood beside one the buildings. She held a fur borrowed from Hawke close around her as she looked around. The old mare who had taken her in had told her to explore the town while she tended to her duties as a member of the Stone Circle, with the assurance that if she ran into trouble if Akari mentioned her name it would be fine. Hawke, so far, was the only horse Akari felt at least somewhat comfortable with. She hadn't left Hawke's house since she had been brought there, well, until now. Her curiosity had finally overcome her nervousness, leading Akari to finally venture outside. And then back in to grab a fur because it was still very cold. So now Akri walked close to the buildings, looking around nervously. The flowers were pretty And certainly cheered the place up from Akari's first impressions. And then her eyes caught something else. A horse like her... A kirin! Akari almost immediately ran towards the stranger, her hooves clattering against the cobble, before stopping after a few feet, her shyness taking over, she shifting on her hooves once she stopped, looking at the other Kirin.

The kirin hummed lightly to herself as she placed her offering of flowers upon Ignacio's small shrine. The tune was different the type of songs usually sung by the War Forged, but any words that it had had were long forgotten by the one emitting the slow tune. Truly, Wintera didn't remember a thing about it, it had just sprung to her mind when she began placing the first flower, and the low sounds purred from her throat before she really realized what she had begun doing.
Curious.
With a slight shake of head, though she didn't stop humming, the mare was turning to place a flower on Kaia's alter as well, when the sound of quick hoof beats caught her attention. Ears swiveled, and head turned shortly after, gaze seeking whoever was in a hurry nearby, and causing soft gasps of surprise from the equines about the outcast. Pale eyes widened at the sight that greeted her seeking attention, fixating upon a smaller kirin standing a short distance away. They looked younger, hesitant, and shy. Unsure, and that sentiment rang a chord of familiarity with the constantly insecurity Wintera felt herself.
"Hey there," the scaled mare called softly, a smile revealing small fangs as she moved toward the other kirin. "I haven't seen you before, but I heard rumors of someone new appearing in town. It was you?" Wintera inquired, tone friendly and happy to be meeting a fellow child of Ignacio, even if it was in this awfully cold and desolate land.

"H-Hi..." Akari stumbled across her words as the other kirin approached her. She shifted her weight nervously as her long tail swept the ground behind her. "U-uhm yes, I think so? I... I haven't spent much time out of Hawke's house since... Since I appeared..." She glanced around, shying away from the glances of others as she held her pelt close. She was uncomfortable in such an open space, her eyes darting around as she shifted away from the other horses. It was... A little unnerving, having the eyes of others on her. And well, it made Akari want to hide.

Oh, this one was very shy, and she seemed acutely uncomfortable. With a light sigh, Wintera expelled her excited breath, shaking her head mentally. Of course if this other kirin had just appeared she'd be confused and uncertain. It hadn't been that long since Win herself had been plagued by such emotions--and sometimes she still was. Pale eyes had caught the other tugging her pelt closer about her, ducking her head. She looked like she wanted to hide, and for some reason, that rather irritated the one doned in blue scales.
"Look, why don't we step over this way. Come on, I know a place we can have a chat. It's warm and cozy, and we can have a hot drink!" Wintera announced, stepping forward with a swish of her long tail and expecting the younger kirin to simply follow her lead. "You don't have to worry, and you shouldn't duck your head like that. Hold it high and proud, you're a child of Ignacio, after all." Tone was soft, holding a note of chiding but even more of pride. She didn't want this land of unicorns, pegasi, and common horses to make her companion feel like anything less than the exquisite creature that she was.
"Oh, I'm Wintera by the way. It's not...the name I had before. I don't remember anything from before I arrived here," the pale colored equine informed Akari, voice dropping to something quieter. It wasn't something she loudly broadcast to those around them, for it was something she felt ashamed about--her lack of memory and even a name. "Do you remember anything?" This time voice held notes of hope, a thirst for any information this new kirin could offer to her.

"O-Okay..." Akari replied to the kirin's suggestion, moving to follow them, her tail slowly swishing behind her, as she listened to the other kirin talk. "...Ig...nacio..?" SHe mumbled to herself. The name held some familiarity, but it... It wasn't anything solid. Akari had heard it a few times, when she first appeared, but otherwise, none had explained it to her. Akari tilted her head slightly as she pondered this name. "...But i-it's a pretty name, Wintera." Akari hummed slightly as the pale blue kirin introduced herself. "...All I remember is three names... One that I knew to be mine, Akari.... And then Raphael... and Edjer... I.. I don't remember anything else... At all..." She hung her head slightly as she said this, slightly ashamed that she couldn't help this other kirin.

Steps were halted in mid stride, one cloven hoof poised above the dirt road beneath them. Ears were perked forward, and along with pale purple gaze were fixated upon her new companion. She didn't even remember the Fire Lord's name? Oh, the poor soul. So she had names she could remember, including her own, but she didn't remember the one who should be remembered above all others.
Perhaps...perhaps Wintera had actually been lucky in what little she had managed to retain. The thought had never occurred to her before.
"Thank you for the compliment. I suppose it could be pretty, snow has a unique, luminous quality to it. But," the scaled equine paused with a sigh, eyes shifted to look upon the forest sprawled below them. "It's but a candle beside a true fire." She finished, shaking her head gently.
"Do you really not remember who Ignacio is?" Wintera continued, still standing there, her antlered head tilting to the side now. "That makes me think I'm lucky that I don't remember my name. It's...not something I'd thought I would say before. The only names I had when I burst into the wretched cold here were the names of the gods, and different breeds of equines."
Thoughts evaluated the kirin before her for a moment, and her previous plan of heading to the Frozen Horn to talk. "Look, before we go get those hot drinks, there's something I need to show you first. Come with me." This time the order was given with a small smile, as the small mare swept past Akari once more, headed back to the shrines they had just left.
"Here, take a look at these five shrines. Do none of them really look familiar?"

"U-uhm, no I don't remember him... Whoever he is... Is he important?" Akari asked, thoroughly confused at Wintera's reaction. She had stopped suddenly when she found out Akari didn't remember this name, which was... a surprise, to say the least, for the young Kirin, who nearly ran into Wintera. "U-Uhm, okay... Where are going first then...?" Akari asked, as Wintera once again headed off, with Akari following. Upon reaching the shrines, Akari looked at them, slightly confused. Upon Wintera's prompt, Akari examined them. "Uhm... This one does. Hawke has a smaller version of it in her house." She said, indicating the shrine to Kaia. Akari tilted her head slightly as she looked at the others. She had a feeling from one, but... she wasn't sure what it was. Familiarity? Akari hung her head slightly as she tried to recall anything about the shrines.

Was he important...?
Wintera could only shake her head at the question, worry for the other kirin flaring in her mind. She didn't answer the questions she was asked, instead she waited, standing to one side and watched the younger mare as she studied the statues of the shrines, placed in their circle.
The scaled mare sighed, the sound slightly sad as it appeared much didn't register with her new friend. Well, in the grand scheme of things she supposed it didn't matter. Wintera could teach the other what she knew about their Fire Lord, and make everything right again.
But first...
Head tilted slightly, pale eyes studying the small equine beside her. "That one is Kaia, the Earth Mother, the one the War Forged call upon most often. She's the most popular patron here, so I'm not surprise this...Hawke has a personal shrine for her." the scaled equine explained, nodding her head slightly toward the effigy of the unicorn.
"The one I was asking about was the Great Kirin himself, Lord Ignacio. He's the patron of fire and Aodh, our father." Pride rang in Wintera's voice as she stepped forward, reaching out to touch her muzzle to the statue's hoof, eyes closing briefly in subservience.
