Hjordis
After Froya left, things got hectic quick for Hjordis. She glanced at Doev when he started to take charge of the situation. She was the only Valkyrie left on this half of the mission, and Froya wanted her to treat Doev with respect, so she listened to the stallion's orders. It was a good strategy after all. She charged alongside Doev's right flank, activating her density control to not so gently shove any equine that tried to get in her way. With the force of a rhino she charged through the crowds, making sure to shove any equine away from their group to keep those that weren't fighters between her and Honour. The mare didn't want to injure these random Talori citizens too badly, they were just scared out of their minds and were seeking a way to find their freedom. They hadn't asked for freedom only to be cut down by a random foreigner. Hjordis's head whipped around when the ghostly mare called out to one of the other Breimans, the medic if she remembered correctly. Apparently a smaller pony had slipped between the giant's legs and charged for Iyasu. The two collided, but not as bad as it could have been. Thanks to the stallion's quick thinking, he only got away with possible bruising at the least and a wrenched shoulder at worst. Hjordis would keep an eye on him when they finally stopped. He was their only official medic, Hjordis was probably the only other equine that had any sort of medical training. It'd be bad if the medic had some sort of hairline fracture in his shoulder. With her eyes concentrated in the distance, searching for the meeting place, Hjordis felt relief when she caught glimpses of a charred and broken-looking tree in the distance. She wasn't sure how far away they were at the moment, but at least they were close. Hjordis whipped her head around when a random citizen bolted towards her, whacking them away with a crack like a blunt weapon against a fleshy body. Out of the corner of her eye she could see the horse stumble away in a daze, continuing their adrenaline fueled charge without fail. The mare rolled her eyes and pushed forward. She was thankful for Hira's battle training more than ever now. All that training allowed her to keep a cool head in this panicked rioting, keeping her from joining in the stampede.

Xia
Xia's heart ached at Fijalahr's compassion towards him. He was going to miss the bigger stallion after this was all over. He'd come to quiet enjoy the Forged's company and, dare he say it, considered the ambassador a friend. "Thank you for your your concern, my friend. I won't let the memory die before I tell anyone." he told the other stallion. Funny, it was almost like the ambassador was reading his thoughts. Xia snorted in amusement at such a notion. His attention was turned back towards the two mares, for now he could tell they were both mares. A second, younger sounding voice reassured him that he was going to be going home. That Hajime had sent their own guards to bring him back to Breim. Xia almost started weeping with joy at the second mare's words. His family hadn't forgotten him, equine from his own homeland were here to take him back. The white stallion's body relaxed at the thought of being around his own people once again. "Thank you." he told the two mares with a sincere grin. However, it seemed that the other mare, the older one, was all business and no talk. Almost instantly she started doling out orders. It was obvious that this... Valkyrie was a high ranking officer of some sort. Maybe Xia could inquire about her and these other Valkyries later. The stallion was always curious about foreign cultures. He wouldn't get the chance now currently, as he was being forced to run between Fijalahr and Kathra, the other Valkyrie he assumed. In order to not get lost in the fray of moving bodies, he threw a telekinetic grip on Fijalahr's back. He was sure that the other stallion wouldn't like the pressure of essentially being held onto, but it was all Xia could do at the moment so he wouldn't get caught in the tide of writhing bodies.

Fijalahr | War-Forged| Ambassador
Little by little, one travels far.
A guilty smile spread across his face, that he quickly tried to hide, when he heard Xia thinking about him reading his thoughts. He should probably tell him about his blessing, later. For this was not the time for long discussions. His attention flickered back towards the Valkyries as Froya gave out orders. By her voice he could tell that she was used to be the one in command, and he was glad about it. She would be able to look out for himself, and hopefully the other Valks too. Right now he was more worried about the Breimians that Kathra had mentioned. From all that he knew was Breim a neutral, and rather peaceful nation. And it was easy to get lost or hurt in that chaos. One step after the other.
He could worry about them later, when they actually reached them. “Yes, your informations are correctly.” he replied briefly to Froyas question and immediately started to scan the environment with his blessing. An icy feeling arose deep in his guts as he realised how many dead bodies he already could detect. This was so unnecessary, all of it. All of these horses died because the Talorians had been blind for centuries. Frustrated he shook of the thoughts and let the magic do it’s cruel work. Bodies, some obviously and gruesome distorted and streaming with blood, others seemingly completely unharmed, started to surround the small group, standing protectively between them and the panicking crowd.
From time to time, one of the walking corpses was pulled over by a from fear blinded horse, but quickly another dead body filled gab. “Xia, for once, be glad that you don’t have eyes to see this world” he murmured gloomy. “You can walk close to me again if that works better for you, I do not mind” the stallion added mentally in Xias mind. When they reached the jungle, his coat was already completely soaked by the warm rain, but for once he was glad about Aquores moisty weather. It felt like a cleansing.
Suddenly the mood of the mob changed drastically. Their little group was cleaving a way and the crowd had acknowledged it. The Ambassadors heart started to race even faster, as he realized that they wouldn’t be able to withstand the crowd. “Froya, Kathra, we have to get out of their way!” he called both vocally and in their minds. He couldn’t risk his words going under in the din around them. He had no idea how close to the tree the rest of the rescue group was waiting.

Xiaozhi (Honour);Breim | Royal Guard
quote
Heart pounding, adrenaline pumping, hooves thundering, the great mare did not tire. Not yet. She did not worry for the horses who were pushed aside, they were not hers to worry about. Iyasu, thank Argus, managed to avoid the straggler without much injury. Xiaozhi couldn't look but she heard his hooves falter then regain composure. Good.
Before she realized there was a large group of equine headed straight towards them yet something was off. They were mangled, most bloodied, and the shine of their eyes were gone. Xiaozhi knew what to do. Determined, she lowered her head as so many times before then charged with all the might the giant horse could muster. Hopefully clearing a path large enough for all the squadron to pass through.
WHAM!
These bodies held a lot less resistance compared to the others before. Lifting her head she spotted Xia and the rest of them. A bit too late as Xiaozhi almost trampled the blue roan with a wolf pelt among them, nearly tripping. At last, they all rejoined. No apologies or hellos were able to be voiced as a small stampede had begun. The mare's eyes widened. Not even she could take out that many horses. Quickly she kicked off her hindquarters in the opposite direction, hastily nudging the blue roan and Xia to gallop immediately. Composure started to run dry, this was a very nasty situation.

Doev
Iyasu! Honour’s voice made his heart knock hard against the walls of his chest. Doev listened; his pulse thumped in his ears, mincing time into pieces, marking its passage as if it had significance then. There came no exclamations from the group behind him as Iyasu took a hypothetical stumble, and his anxiety parted from him like an exhale. Doev wasted no time on castigating the rogue that should have been assisting Honour, his harsh breath throwing the rain from the openings of his bronze mask as he bucked forward, fighting for speed. He cut in front of the rogue and fell back, forcing a change of position, his helm transforming his roar into a dreadful howl as he worked immediately to drive off the edges of the stampede. Blurred in the rain, his strange metallic face wrinkled around savage teeth, with the gem fitted into his blind-side flashing like a fiery eye, and within an atmosphere already saturated in terror, his demonic visage routed the crowd. Passing hooves clipped his cannons, shoulders collided and slipped past one another, and the fever-sweet scent of sweat soured the air as the river of bodies gradually receded. However, unexpectedly, a larger horse then broke free from the mob and came charging straight for them. “ Move!” The horse ignored his warning, and in the seconds between, Doev switched to instinct and viciously threw his helmed head at the stranger. Their skulls collided; he could hear the sickening wet crack of the stranger’s orbital bone as it shattered around the hard gemstone fitted into his mask—then the sound of something hitting the wet sand that followed as the horse collapsed and rolled out of their path. It was then that he caught Honour breaking from the formation, and he was immediately aware of what was happening, a harsh curse erupting from between the metallic teeth of his helmet— “—c ontinue straight ahead to the tree,” Doev hollered to his remaining comrades before he then cut away to immediately charge after Honour. Doev broke wide of the crowd, gaining ground only to skid into a turn and infiltrate the masses, moving with the current of bodies until it carried him alongside the sturdy foreign ambassador. “ Don’t fight—“ he shouted over Fijalahr’s withers to his comrades in whole “ —save your strength; the crowd turns aside from the tree line and thins up ahead— “ the jostling horses temporarily knocked the breath from his lungs and his voice came back raw and winded “ —move with the stampede and we’ll force our way through to the jungle then—” there was no time to coordinate further. Ready or not, they were moving and powerless to control it, flowing with the crowd to the bend in the river of bodies where the horses turned to break for the shore. The masses ahead thinned, and thinned, and thinned as the escapees followed the path of least resistance, and the moment an opening showed itself was when Doev finally goaded them to fight through. They were free and, finally, whole as they arrived at the rendezvous point below the shattered wimba tree—their ambassadors reclaimed. He found a sturdy buttress root and leaned his full weight into a recline against it, finally allowed to pull his breath evenly into his bruised ribs.

Iyasu
Iyasu could see the tree they were heading for in the distance and could feel a surge of relief. They were so close to their goal now. All that was left was to meet with the Valkyries and their recovered Ambassador and Consul. The months of travel and the hell they had to cut through seemed to lessen at the sight of their goal so close. Praise the gods! He could feel his heart lighten, and the throbbing in his shoulder lessen at the possibility of getting home without too much of a problem. Then he saw Hjordis push back another horse and Doev crack his metal mask sickeningly into another horse’s head and the reality of exactly the kind of hell they were still in came crashing back to his senses.
He watched with surprise as Honour surged forward toward the large group coming toward them. After giving orders for them to continue Doev was soon after her. Iyasu was quick to follow his instructions, turning with those who were left toward the rendezvous point. As soon as they had stopped under the broken wimba tree, sides heaving from exertion and his nostrils flaring mildly from the adrenaline, Iyasu turned to look at the stampede his comrades had entered and watched with anxiety for their return. Each time a body shifted outside the norm he tensed, hoping, only for the unfamiliar horse to turn toward the shore. Agonizing seconds ticked by as he waited. Was the other group further away than expected? Had they been harmed? Would he need to go in there?
Then he saw the Valkyries and his fellow Breimians break through the outer edge of the stampede. They were okay! His head lifted higher in excitement. There were two other equines with them. The Ambassador. Their Consul! Iyasu could almost have wept with joy. They had them back. They were all together. All that was left was to make it back to the ship, and without having to fight more panicked equines he was sure they would be alright.
He looked up toward the overcast sky. Thank all the gods.. They were safe. He sighed in his immense relief, wincing a little at his sore shoulder. He watched Doev lean against a sturdy root. Perhaps they were a little banged up, sure, but they were alive. All of them. He looked out at the panicked stampede that continued to stream by their group. He felt awful about what was happening here, but he could not shake his relief. They were actually leaving this hell behind.
They were going home.
