Had the threat of the creature returning not been evident from the lack of calm among the rogues, she might have put her armor back on. At first, it was only to dry the salt water from her coat she had taken it off, with full intention to re-apply after the water stopped threatening corrosion of the metal by staying on. Then of course, the sender of the note was revealed to be kirins. Aside from the war-lord's son, Kathra had never laid eyes on another one, much less than the adult zorse kirin with color-changing scales and blue-green scaled pale kirin she saw appear on deck after one of the captains went below. The whistles the captains gave were lost to her, though, after spending two weeks on the war-forged ship, knew that they did carry some meaning.
And yet, all this was shoved to the side when that cursed beast's call pierced the air again, like it had last time. Walking over to the side of the boat, she saw the water darken again. Hearing the captain rage at the kirins she backed away from the railing she went back to where her shield sisters were assembled, blessing already increasing her size. "Unless this beast kills me, make sure the rogues don't leave me behind." She murmured, low enough just for Froya and Hjordis to hear, before turning on her hooves and charging the barrier.
Cascade forgive me, Kaia protect me.
As she propelled herself off the side and into the open air, she willed herself to change. Stone replaced muscle and skin, her size, already one of a draft before her hooves left the deck, doubled again. Her back legs dissipated, merging with her tail as her body became segmented. Serpentine looks replaced equine, talon tipped feet replacing hooves as she broke the surface of the ocean.
The transformation completed under the surface and the now glowing purple eyes of a Lindworm Golem scanned the murk for signs of movement.
There.
The forged mare saw the shape of the monster lurking within the waters depths talons clenched and unclenched as she whipped her segmented tail into movement as she dove down, arms tucked to her sides. A dark tentacle weaved in the darkness, attached to the beast below. Seeing her chance she grabbed onto the Skagwyer with her stony limbs and bit down. She couldn't quite wrap her maw around it, but she was able to find enough purchase to hopefully get the beast distracted, and let the ships have time to get away.

The monster begins it's charge towards the surface, ready to take the nearest ship down when a creature the likes of which the Scagrwyr has never before run into clamps
down on one of her fleshy tentacles. Angry and injured, the monster lets out another wail
as she swims upward, dragging the golem with her.
As she breaches the surface, her massive jaws take hold of the Huntress's bow, breaking off a
portion of the ship as she dives back into the water, readying herself for another attack. Circling
below the ships, she clips into one forcefully, shattering a portion of it's hull against the hard plates
of her back. Two of the three ships are taking on water quickly, and it's only a matter of time until
she comes after the third one....

Hjordis
With mixed emotions, Hjordis watched the Kirins she’d seen down in the hold stroll up the stairs leading to the lower decks. One was a red dun zorse with vibrant scales that changed colors she supposed, because when she had seen him down in the hold his scales hadn’t been the color they were now. Hjordis found him more interesting than the other Kirin that walked onto the upper deck. The other looked like some sort of champagne paint with scales and horns the colors of the leaves in summer. Less impressive than the one with color changing scales, but she quite liked the color of his scales and antlers, it reminded her of summer in Onea. The Valkyrie watched the Kirins closely, waiting for them to make good on their promise. They were all in danger, the Kirins included, so she hoped that the two weren’t lying when they said they could do something about the Scagwyre. A shudder rippled down Hjordis’s spine as she heard the low groans of the sea beast down below them. She’d already survived the beast attacking a ship she’d been on one time before, and Hjordis prayed to Kaia that she was lucky enough to survive another ship being brought down by the monster. She shot a look at the Rogue mare that had been cursing her out earlier, watching her tremble in fear over the monster that lurked below them, tears streaming down her face. Hjordis snorted and looked away from her “Buck up and do what you can, I’m not a sailor, so it’s up to you to help get us out of this when the Kirin’s done.” The mare told the other gruffly, trying to encourage the mare in her own, aggressive way. She’d heard stories of vicious pirates skulking the waterways of Talori growing up, it was time for them to live up to their image. He watched as the Captain shoved at the Kirin, trying to get him to do what he’d promised. Hjordis hoped that the Kirin wasn’t as stubborn as her and refused to do anything because of how the crew was treating him. That’d be a petty way to die, but a small part of Hjordis could respect wanting to go out that way. Then Kathra went and jumped in the ocean. Hjordis stared wide eyed as her sister Valkyrie told them to make sure the Rogues didn’t leave her behind. “Wait a second you idiot!” she screamed and charged after the other Valkyrie, skidding to an abrupt halt when her hooves reached the edge of the ship. She watched in horror and awe as the chimera unicorn utilized her shape-shifting powers, turning her body into one of the stone golems that inhabited their homeland. Gaze glued to the surface of the water, Hjordis listened to the sudden wail the monster gives out. “You crazy mare.” She muttered under her breath, knowing her friend had gotten a good bite on the creature. Wails filled her ears as she watched the waters, until they were suddenly split apart by the great beast itself, taking a chunk out of the front end of the ship before diving below the surface again. Horrified, Hjordis watched as water started to rush into the now exposed lower decks, starting to drag the rest of the ship down into the murky depths. Thinking quick, the mare charged to the side of the ship that the still intact ship was on. She thanked Kaia that the earth goddess had granted her density control. Though she barely had any control over the blessing, all she would need is a moment of near weightlessness to get over to the only boat that wasn’t now sinking. She’d deal with the fatigue that came after it when she was safe on the other ship. “Froya!” she called to her other friend, motioning over to the other boat with her head. She wasn’t as worried about Froya, the smaller mare was tough and was blessed with flight thanks to her shapeshifting. If anyone could survive this, it would be Froya. After catching the attention of the other Valkyrie, she turned her own attention over to the Kirins. “If you have a plan, you better do it right the hell now!” she snarled, fear crawling up the normally fearless mare’s throat. Though that could also be bile, if the mare’s luck got any worse.

Kraken
"Oh, fuck." The wail pierced the air once more, and the now unmistakable sound of the bubbling ocean could be heard too close for comfort. He turned away from Ceto and the kirins he had just brought up to look out at his own ship. Unmoving. But - he jerked his head up, as the sails went limp - so were they. Not only did he have to worry about this damn monster, but if he and his crew survived, he would have to deal with them too for leaving them behind. With luck they might still get eaten, but so might he now.
His blood ran uncomfortably cold. Trying to shove down any thoughts of Cascade's monster swallowing him whole he turned upon the kirins, now being bullied by Ceto. But for once he would do exactly as she was doing. They made an offer, and now they better follow through. Rogues hated an offer that turned sour. He was about to join Ceto in yelling at the captives, when one of the War-Forged mares suddenly went racing past him. "Crazy bastard!" he shouted, spinning on his hooves to watch her descent over the railing. He charged to the side after Hjordis, his morbid curiosity overtaking any captain-like calm. He leaned over the edge of the ship, watching as a lindworm, and certainly not a horse, disappeared below the water. It wasn't but a moment later that the scagrywr breached the waves, the lindworm attached to one of it's limbs.
The captain gaped, but only momentarily before the beast grabbed hold of the bow. The ship tilted ominously as if they might be dragged down with the monster, but the tension of the wood gave way first, with a disheartening crack. Kraken braced himself, using his teke to hold fast to the railing, as the boat slammed back down to the water. He barely took time to steady himself before drawing his sword. How else might they beat it now, if the kirins had nothing in mind after all?
He looked over the railing, trying to spot the creature, but everything was an unholy black. Pieces of Ceto's ship now floated in the waves, having been released from the creatures jaws. He thought he could see a shifting of the darkness, but the monster was so big that it was hard to tell from this viewpoint where its head might be.
Until suddenly an echoing crack and resulting yells sounded in the distance. It was his ship. A massive gash in the side of the hull had been opened, and it was already tilting terribly. It would not take long for it to sink, he thought distantly. The Huntress, too was starting to rock. With the bow destroyed the ship was off balance, and the water pouring in making it even more so. The breach was not as terrible as on his ship, but the fact still remained that The Huntress was taking on water, and it was only a matter of time before she would be sunk if no one intervened.
"IF YOU HAVE A PLAN DO IT NOW!" he screamed back at the kirins. His eyes turned instead to the last remaining ship - The Rancor. Chances were not good that she would survive as well, but it was about the only hope they had left. He tried to push the distant sails with his blessing to draw the ship closer, but while the sails filled with air the ship stayed put. The stallion let them drop, looking down at the water. He would swim if he had to, but he hoped it wouldn't come to that. He began to pray fervently to any god that might listen.

CAPTAIN CETO Tell me that you are not a thief, but I am bad company.
The mare turned just as one of the Forged leapt over the side of the ship, her eyes narrowing as Kraken and Hjordis ran to the rail to watch. Fuckin idiot, Ceto thought crossly, her attention snapping back to the Kirins. She opened her mouth to yell at them once more until the sight of the beast leaping through the air caught her attention, a Golem attached to its limb. The Captain's eyes went wide, ears laying back as she took a step back. She couldnt pull her eyes from the scene, even if she wanted to.
However, her gawking didnt last long. As quickly as the beast had appeared, it disappeared, grabbing hold of the bow on its way down. The Huntress creaked and groaned from the tension, trying her best to stay together. Snap after crack sounded as it gave way, wood splintering and snapping from the weight. Ceto grabbed hold of the railings as the ship shook, water quickly rushing onto the deck.
At the sound of another crash in the distance, Ceto looked out across the water to find Kraken's ship receiving the same treatment. Her eyes quickly darted to The Rancor. She was still in one piece... for now.
Ceto turned back to the Kirins as Kraken screamed. They didnt have a plan. Hell, they didnt even talk. Grinding her hoof into the wood, the mare tried her best to come up with a plan. Water was already crawling at her hooves, creeping to her ankles. There wasnt enough time. She felt something land across her shoulder, glancing back to see her terrified familiar clinging to her mane and staring down at the incoming water with panic in his eyes. Ceto frowned, giving the animal a soft kiss on his cheek. As many times as she had teased about throwing him overboard, she never thought it would actually have to happen.
If they could all try to swim for it, at least the creature would have three ships to distract it instead of just the one; and now that it was injured.. "ABANDON SHIP!" She screamed over another echoing call from the Scagrywr, slamming her hoof onto the deck, water splashing up her leg. She would wait, at least until her crew was off. Everyone else was on their own.

Calypso's hooves shifted from side to side. The waves below the ship had begun to shift darker in colour, contrasting against the deep blue of the sea. She pinned her ears back at the one who addressed her, snorting with frustration. Yeah right, she wasn't a sailor either, but why should that care to a bunch of foreigners. Oh how she wished that she'd never left those isles in the first place. She heard one of the other mares say something, before hurling themselves over the side of the fucking ship. She stared in confusion and surprise as the mare's form twisted and turned as she reached the water. Rocks began to replace fur and suddenly she had become something else other than an equine. She'd seen one of the other equines earlier transform from a bird to a horse, but she had no clue that they could do something on this scale. "Holy shit!" She exclaimed, staring at the blurred figure that swam through the water.
But it wouldn't be enough, as suddenly it called again. The volume began to rise until the monster reared its gigantic head over the bough, snapping through it like it was nothing. Awestruck and terrified, she couldn't help but look at it as soon dove back down into the depths again. It was absolutely massive, especially this close. Water rushed in, bathing the deck with salt and starting to pull the ship down to Cascade's domain. The water bathed her ankles as she tried her best to stay steady. All the while that beast was destroying another ship. Kraken screamed, before Calypso opened her mouth again in fury at the kirins. "I'm certain that they just they tricked us into thinking that they had a plan when they didn't. But nooo, you just wanted some fucking space, didn't you?" She interrogated. "And now we're going to fucking die here to the giant ass ship-eating tentacle monster BECAUSE OF IT!" She glared at the pair, venom in her gaze. They promised to help, yet they did nothing. The other two war-forged mares were beginning to flee to the Rancor, which was surprisingly still intact.
The ship was sinking, fast. They were running out of time. Ceto ordered everyone to get off, to leap into the water and pray that the monster doesn't eat you. Almost instinctively, she felt her legs rush forward. Adrenaline flowed through her veins as she bolted, setting her sights on the railing that hung over the side of the ship. With a dash of silver and grey, the mare leaped over the side, shutting her eyes to keep the water out. She took a breath before bracing for impact into the sea. She gasped for air, her body beating against the waves. Her heart beat heavy in her chest, cold beginning to sweep in around her. She forced herself not to look back, and instead focused on trying to get away, praying silently to whoever would hear her.

The creature makes her way to the surface once more,
sideswiping the Rancor with a tentacle as she does, tearing down the ship's masts. She ignores it for the most part though, more intent on another prize.
Unaware of the screams of the crew, she launches herself out of the water, maw open as she almost swallows the third ship whole. Horses jump off the sides of the ship as it disappears into the monster's
mouth.
You see an opening as the scagwryr finishes off the ship, knowing you only have
mere moments to make it to the Rancor if you wish to live. You and the others jump,
swimming as fast as you can while praying to the gods to protect you. You just barely make it to
Balthier's ship when the scagwryr switches targets. Turning her attention to the Huntress once more, she pushes forward, wrapping her tentacles around the already sinking ship, forcing it under the waves much quicker.
A massive wave comes out of nowhere, knocking your ship free off the inky black sludge that had trapped you before as the creature disappears into the water, the Huntress in tow. Another wave follows the first, with more trailing behind. With the mast down, and the ship in need of repairs, it's impossible for you to control her....
Just as you begin to think you can take a moment to catch your breath, another monster wave rolls in,
crashing over the ship, flipping her upside down. As you crash into the chilly sea water, you find yourself having
a hard time keeping your eyes open... You now now isn't the time to rest, but you can't help it. Your vision slowly fades to black as you sink deeper into the depths of the ocean.
You don't know how much time has passed as you open your eyes. Looking around you can tell you've reached a shore, but you aren't quite sure of which one it is. As your gaze shifts, you can see the forms of your fellow adventurers scattered along the beach as well. The Rancor also appears to have made landfall, though she is in ill repair... In the distance you hear voices, slowly growing louder as they make their way toward you. You see their blurry shapes
approaching before you close your eyes once more, too tired to stay awake. You can only hope they are here to help....
This concludes Talori Plot 406: Mythadventures!
Thank you all for participating and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves!
