Umbra | Servile Slave
Umbra was still shaking as he watched everything go down. Then his father dashed in his direction. It made the colt feel better to know that the stallion cared about Umbra's safety above his own. The colt jumped as the force field went down. He immediately felt unsafe again. He shoved himself against Galloway's flank on terror. The next thing he noticed was that everyone was being less dumb. All but a few seemed to be getting out of harm's way. The mare was still talking to the dragon, but it seemed she had managed to soothe it finally. Lord Caspian, however, was still dangerously close to the wild axe. Umbra looked up at Gallow with tears in his eyes. "You gotta help him, dad. I- I don't like the weapon. It's going to hurt someone again." His voice was barely a whisper, but he was pretty sure Gallow could hear him. The colt's tail twitched nervously at his hooves. He couldn't lose Caspian, the stallion was too nice to him. And if he left his niece alone, the thought just worried Umbra even more. He quietly swallowed down some of his fear. "C-can I help?" He asked, hoping to be more than just a crying nuisance. Word Count: 207 Post: 4

Galloway | Pit SlaveSuddenly things were coming under control. At least in the sense that the pony sized beast in the center of the room was calming. Galloway didn't know the mare who smelled like a forge, but he silently thanked her. His suspicions confirmed that she had the ability to speak to the dragon. Seeing that side of the room finally resolving itself, Gallow continued to focus on Umbra and the others around him. And that damnable ax. Umbra was terrified next to him. Across the way a mare and her foal were cowering. He knew he had to make sure he didn't work himself thin, but they needed help. The foal could see, but a child can only do so much and he knew this. Gallow looked down at his son and was extremely proud that he offered his help. Gallow knew he had every right to run and hide, but he wanted to be of use. Looking back at the mare and foal in the distance he decided to send Umbra there way. Or at least suggest it. "Umbra, do you see that light colored mare and her foal? I don't know them. But they look lost. I know it's a lot to ask of you, but I know you're strong. Could you go over carefully and see if you can lead them to somewhere safer? Give them piece of mind that they're not alone. There will be a force field between you and the dragon and it should extend to them as well. I'm going to try and contain the axe. But you need to let me know if you can do this. I'm not forcing you in the slightest. I'd rather you stay right by me. But we need all the help we can get." Gallow nuzzled his son's crest affectionately. "It's time I figure out this ax issue." He heard a young voice quietly speak up. He followed it to a bay mare not much younger than himself. Her idea to wedge the weapon into something solid wasn't a bad idea, but he didn't know how well it would work, seeing as the weapon had already ripped itself out of the wall. He turned to her however, grateful for one person to be attempting to rationally figure this out. "I'd say I agree with your idea. But it seems like it's proven it can't keep itself wedged in something solid. Or at least the wall. I can keep it in a force field. Or maybe we can converge our plans? Maybe we can wedge it and then I can trap it against the wall with a force field. Like a spider under a glass. And then maybe one of us can search for whoever is manipulating this weapon." He spoke to the young mare, but also to the rest of the able bodied adults in the room. As soon as he stopped, the ax seemed to fly out of nowhere straight for him. His shields sprung up in an instant. One around his son and another around anyone near him. He himself leaped to the side. It had taken a vendetta out against him, leaving Lord Caspian for something with a fight. Not that Lord Caspian couldn't fight, but Gallow was born for it. His adrenaline was coursing just under his skin and he needed to release it. He wanted to have fun. But he had to refrain himself. This wasn't the pits. There were lives here that could very well get hurt. He ducked again as it tried to swing at his vital spots. "This is getting ridiculous! Someone help me get this thing in a wall or a chunk of something that isn't a horse. It's starting to really piss me off." He didn't know if anyone would help. He was a slave. A pit slave. Horses paid to see him brutalize his opponents and to see him become brutalized. But he hoped they wouldn't buy a ticket to this show.

Caspian of Cygnus | Lord | Aodh
-----
"To banish imperfection is to destroy expression, to check exertion, to paralyze vitality." - John Ruskin
-----
Caspian hissed to himself as he sidestepped the axe, it keeping pace with him. Each minor movement caused a different ripple of pain from the slice he already received. A piercing familiar voice yelled to him, Umbra. Caspian looked over his flank to make sure the young one was staying still and not doing something rash...much like himself. He was relieved to see the young horse's father protecting him. Good, he thought warmly and brought his attention back to his enemy. Then he heard the Lady Gwen speak up. She was not wrong but it was nice to just point out the obvious. They needed a plan, which Galloway the pit slave put a piece forward. His force fields could dearly come in handy. Caspian nodded as his mind scrambled for an idea. Then a younger voice added one more piece to the puzzle that caused something to click in Caspian's mind. Keeping his purple eyes on the weapon, Cas shouted to the others.
"Galloway, could you move something if you formed a field around it... like a bubble? Is there rope here?" Caspian could not take his attention from the enchanted blade. He needed to keep its focus on him or else it may hurt others who were obviously disabled in such a situation. "If we could get it stick in the wood or stone like the young one said, with your force field or by accident, we can weigh it down or at least minimize its ability to move!"
Just then the blade shot forward again but not for him. It veered toward Galloway and Umbra. Caspian's breath caught in his throat but relief hit him as Galloway surrounded those near, including Umbra, in a shield. The fighter yelled and Caspian moved towards him and the axe. It rapidly spun towards Caspian and he flinched. In his failure to react the blad landed another hit. It sliced deep but thanks to a hop Cas was able to do towards the end it was not anything fatal. His hooved scrambled under him but he fell, having been slide with the force of the blow. Laying on his stomach he cursed and looked down. A much smaller cut rather near to the first one now joined his blood from two wounds on his grey coat. The first had only on the surface and was already slow in its blood flow. This one however was deeper and soon his left leg felt sticky with blood. If he took any more hits or this took much longer he really would be in a pickle.
"It goes for those closest, we may be able to use that.. Cas called out, really reaching for any solution.

LADY SCARLETTE ARDOR NOBLE || PLOT LEADER "Guinevere," The Lady called out, seeing that, after the mare rather simply stated her thoughts, she was fairly unoccupied, "Perhaps, you can help take Lord Gabriel away from the commotion and I can aide with the children?" Scarlet gently nudged Gabriel to the artisan's side. While Gwen could be patronizing at times, bitchy at others, the noble-woman trusted the mare to help the blind noble. "We'll be fine Gabe, Guinevere will be keeping you from the fray, I must go help the children." She said sweetly before brushing her muzzle to the noble lord's shoulder once more and moving away from the pair and towards Galloway, Lord Caspian, Tatiana, and Umbra. "Beau darling," Scarlette called out, her pink eyes finding the colt and his mother, "Why not you lead your mother towards Guinevere and Gabriel?" She suggested to the two, her eyes showing calm even when she was still panicking. The dragon had been calmed sufficiently, but Scarlet wasn't about to break the small hold Moonrise held on her by approaching them. Scarlet avoiding stepping on glass and broken relics as she navigated back towards Gallow and the axe. She pressed her muzzle at his dock, sweeping along his back to let him know she was there, a familiar and calm gesture she reserved often for displays of affection at home, most commonly with Mandisa. She then looked down at the small slave that had entered with Caspian. She knew now that Gallow had sired him, and clearly the exchange had slipped her mind or merely been handled by an attendant to Scarlet's large estate. Before she could even direct him though, Galloway was sending him off to help Iloue and Beau, while she had given them direction before, it would be good to have the little slave aiding them on their way, as well as getting himself out of the main conflict. "Tatiana, dear, I believe there to be a storage room somewhere in the sanctum, perhaps you and Vincent," The Lady said giving a glance to the two horses, "Look for the door to it and have it opened, Lord Caspian and Galloway need a place to lure the axe. In the mean time," Scarlet snorted a bit, shaking out her muscles just a tad, "We're going to become matadors." The roan mare moved away from the forcefield to dance very swiftly into the axe's apparatus, becoming for a few moments the closest thing to it. As she had hoped, it swung around towards her, and she bounced farther out of reach. "Come now, let's confuse it!"words: 437

Tatiana | Aodh | Kindling
Tatiana stared at ax for a moment as a spotted stallion thought about using his blessing for force fields to trap the blade in a wall of board long enough to be trapped by ropes or chains. Her eyes scanned the floor around her that was littered with bits and pieces of glass and wood from when the horse-sized, young dragon had come crashing into the Sanctum, but there didn't seem to be anything that they could use that would be sturdy enough to tie up the ax for good. There had to be something they could do though. They had to do something before someone got hurt again.
Almost as if the ax could hear her worried thoughts, it swung at the same noble stallion that it had sliced before. This time, however, his wounds seemed deeper and bloodier than before, and the ax's blow had sent him sliding across the floor where he now laid there on his belly, exposed to any more attacks the ax may deal out. Her breath caught in her throat as she watched the horror scene before her, and the young mare instinctively backed against her mother and nearly knocked her over as Tatiana was still unaccustomed to her larger size.
Just as her panic was about to shut down the logical part of her mind, an older mare started speaking to them all, giving them orders and making sure everyone would be safe while they dealt with the problem at hand now that the scared and bewildered dragon had been subdued. Having a goal to accomplish, Tatiana nodded her head quickly and began trotting off beside her mother to find the nearest storage room before she could doubt herself. "Y-yes, ma'am!" She called back, her attention focusing on the task at hand.
She wildly opened doors as fast as she could in the Temple as the others tried to confuse the ax and lure it somewhere to be captured. Tatiana was trying to find the thickest door, one that the ax wouldn't be able to get through easily. Finally, the unicorn mare yanked open a sturdy door made of thick wood that seemed to be keeping scrolls and other belongings to the Sanctum safe from ruin 'Sorry, but this is important.' She apologized silently, hoping that without anyone to attack, the ax would just fall still once more. "Lead it this way!" Tatiana shouted back, biting her lip nervously as she awaited the other horses and the murderous ax.

Gallow Galloway | Pit SlaveGallow didn't have time to answer Caspian's question before the ax made a leap for the Lord again. Gallow watched as it gave him another harsh cut. He furrowed his brow and focused on what everyone was saying.
"Yes Lord Caspian, I can do that with my force fields." He heard Lady Scarlette directing everyone in a miraculously calm demeanor. He was always impressed at how well she took stressful situations. She suggested a storage room to the young mare, Tatiana. The mare jumped immediately to the task and found a good spot for them to lead the ax away. As everything began to set itself up nicely, Gallow turned to Lord Caspian and eyed the wounds he had acquired. "Lord Caspian, you ready to lure it into that storage room over there? I can do my best to force it back with my force fields and keep it from maiming any other horse."
He knew his force fields couldn't move with him. They were stationary. At least from what he had experienced. He didn't want to experiment at a time like this either. "I don't know if my force fields can move however. I've never tried that. They're usually stationary. Let me try and narrow its pathway." Gallow released his current force fields and instead set up a few that cornered the ax. He hoped it wasn't smart enough to leap around and find an escape route. He also hoped they could contain it before it swung too close to that dragon. The blacksmith had done a wonderful job subduing it and allowing it to become enraged or confused again, could not be an option.
"So who wants to bait it?" Gallow gave a dark chuckle, concentrating on his force fields and the restless weapon partially blocked off.

Umbra | Servile Slave
Umbra listened to Galloway for guidance. He gave a quick nod and just as he was about to step towards the pair, the axe came hurtling toward them. The colt shoved his face into the stallion's shoulder in terror once again. So much violence. Why was the crazy thing trying to kill everyone? Luckily, it hadn't hit them, thanks to Gallow's force fields. Umbra slowly opened his eyes to see that they were safe. Soon enough, Lady Scarlet was planning things for everyone. Caspian was plotting how to be rid of the cursed axe. And Umbra stood there, worrying about two of the most important horses in his life. Umbra waited for the axe to be far enough away from them. Then he planned his escape route. "D-dad? Don't get hurt, please." He whispered up to the stallion. Then he looked at Lord Caspian. "You be careful too! I... I love you guys." The second part was said to both stallions before he dashed towards Beau and his mother. He didn't dare look back as he bolted, he just had to hope he hadn't gotten too close to the axe as he ran. Soon enough, he was at the mare and foal's sides. He didn't know what to do from there, so he simply turned to make sure Galloway and Caspian were staying safe. Word Count: 224 Post: 5

Beau | Noble | Aodh
The overwhelming helplessness the young foal felt made him feel even smaller than he was, huddled between his worried mother and a pillar. The dragon was calmer and it sounded like some of the adults were formulating a plan on how to keep the axe from acting out and hurting more horses, but the whole situation made him realize how fragile every living thing was. It wasn't all happy endings like in stories he was told before bed, the end of King Amadeus' story was proof enough of that. All he could do in that moment was rub against his mother as physical comfort, tell her what was going on around them, and do his best to assure her that the other horses were getting things under control. Until he heard Lady Scarlet's voice issue him a suggestion he couldn't pass up. Take his mother and Caspian's young servile slave over to the other Nobles away from all the action. To safety. The other foal was beside them in a few moments, taking a few to look back at the two stallions. Without further hesitation he nuzzled up to his mother and flicked his long, thin tail over her back. When he spoke, he made sure to be loud enough for the slave foal to hear and tag along.
"Lady Scarlet had a good idea. I'm going to lead you over to the other Nobles who are safe and out of the way. Mom, I'll be super careful, I promise. I know I can lead us to safety." he explained before nodding in affirmation of his words.
"This way!" he exclaimed before putting one purple hoof in front of the other and beginning to lead them towards the safest part of the room.

tyrus bring yourself to glory
It had been a trying morning.
Tyrus had believed, until today, that the most difficult task in his time as flamen was behind him. King Solaris's death had shocked the world only two years priort, and the duty had fallen on him --then newly-appointed-- to speak at her wake. He'd thought he'd asked himself all the hard questions then. How do you honor a beloved leader? How do you comfort the child she has left behind? How do you assure a nation, united in fear, that a boy-king was their final hope?
Tens of thousands had heard him speak that day, and he'd trembled for hours. Until this morning, Tyrus would have thought it to be his most harrowing day. Now, he knew that day was ahead of him.
Everything was unimaginably different. The questions he asked himself now were incomprehensible-- how do you speak about the loss of a child? Amadeus was this city's son, and even when he stumbled, was their ray of hope. The last spark of Solaris, extinguished. How was Tyrus to stand over a dead boy and promise Eithne a future?
This plagued Tyrus as he left the palace. On his way to the Sanctum he practiced lines in his head, things he would say to the confused mourners. He was sure his congregation would be there, lost. He needed to say something, to comfort them, somehow. As he walked up the cobbled path to the Sanctum's grand entrance, echoes of chaos emanated from within. Shocked, Tyrus trotted in, following the sound of terrified screams and the clangor of weaponry.
The scene inside was impossible to parse. Moreover, why was the relic out of its case? Had they no respect? "What is the meaning of this?!"

While keeping half an eye on the situation with the axe, Moonrise was more focused on the baby dragon. The loud noises still served to frighten the baby, but thankfully now that she'd gotten her attention, calming her down and keeping her that way was easier.
Then of course, Tyrus came back, he had to at some point. "What is the meaning of this?!"
That got her attention. Ripping her focus away from the hatchling for a moment, she breifly registered the situation before looking back at the baby. She wasn't exactly as occupied as the others, but at the same time this hatchling certainly wasn't not a liability. An idea came to mind, and she gently brushed her tail against the dragons snout and made a few more cooing noises. The baby got the hint and chomped down onto the black hair, a few could be heard snapping under the pressure she exerted with her jaw. (Moonrise took a moment to thank the gods she didn't have any feeling in that part of her tail, or she might have been a bit less happy with the situation.)
It took a minute or two, but the blacksmith managed to make her way over to the Flamen, baby dragon in tow. Moonrise dipped her head in greeting.
"Flamen Tyrus, things have become a bit... strange in your absence this morning. We had come to your sanctum to grieve and collect ourselves only moments ago, when the relic began to make a rattling noise in it's box. Intrigued a few of us went to take a look, and found the axe had begun vibrating violently in it's case. Lord Caspian took the lid off and well..."
She paused, taking a moment to gesture to where the nobles and Gallow were working on containing the murderous relic.
"It's been flying through the air as if controlled by Teke, and lunges forward at any equine who tries to get near enough to subdue it. However... that's not all of it."
Giving the poor Flamen time to absorb this information she gently tugged on her tail, and the hatchling waddled forward, the blacksmith's tail still tucked in her mouth with a happy chirp. "This little girl broke through one of your windows the instant the axe started going berserk. She's blind and if you're willing to believe me, she's a baby dragon, not an oversized Pygmy. She was throwing a fit out of terror and I only just managed to calm the poor dear down before you arrived."
Offering an apologetic smile to the donkey she finished, "It's been quite the morning in your sanctum." Post #4 | Word Count: 440

LADY SCARLETTE ARDOR NOBLE || PLOT LEADER "What is the meaning of this!" Scarlet merely snorted at the voice, tearing her gaze away from the axe long enough to meet the Flamen's eyes. "How lovely of you to join us, my Lord." She said simply, dancing out of reach of the relic. It swung at her measuredly, terrifying in all of its calculated movements. The Lady seemed to be fairly alone in leading it towards the now open storage-door. The Lord Caspain was, after all, quite injured from his run ins with the charmed object. "Let's go Gallow." She said optimistically as the slave began to channel the axe using his forcefields to block its path. The dragon was being moved, quite adorably, thought Scarlet distracted, over to where the majority of the group had crowded. The axe lunged forward in another swing, and in her haste to avoid debris and glass on the floor, she felt her haunches nicked quite painfully. Quick inspection and her ability to leap out of reach again showed that she was not seriously injured. "Tatiana, you'll need to shut the door once its beyond the threshold." Scarlet then looked back at Galloway. "Galloway, I'm going to veer away from the door, do you think you'll be able to keep it from turning around?" She was already planning the move, ready to dart away from the axe mid swing. Hopefully, it would swing into the room at least partially, the slamming of the heavy door keeping it at bay beyond that. She moved fluidly among the sanctum, careful not to let anyone else distract her as she moved towards Tatiana. "Stand behind the door Tatiana, we can't have it swinging at you before going in the room!"
She waited a beat or two at her place just outside the room, nerves prickling her skin as she waited for the axe to level a swing. She skipped out of the way last moment, leaving the containment to Gallow's forcefields and Tatiana's slamming the door. words: 339
