Nova;Aodh | Courtesan shit Eostre's pushing words came flashing through to Nova's brain. She was genuinely thankful for the push, even if she remained absolutely terrified. Standing at the edge of the balcony, Nova forced herself to take a deep breath and think things through. Then the impossible happened, Charlie, as chill as he ever is, simply breezed past her. He took one leap onto the balcony's railing then using his tiny hooves gracefully leapt onto a very mildly outstretched brick and charmingly bounced from one brick to the other until he was on the ground. Nova shook her head and actually felt herself calm down a smidge, so that was how he always got away from Octavia. The thought of Octavia now brought a glint to her eye. What would become of the pearl now? Nova cleared her thoughts and tried to think of alternative ways to get down from the balcony without breaking every bone in her body. She thought of Charlie and the impossible. She leapt onto the balcony's railing then at an awkward angle, launched herself at the wall, ungracefully she twisted her body to use the wall to propel her to the ground. She still felt something shatter in her left front foot, but she felt she could have been a lot worse off. Looking over her coworkers, she felt her heart twang as she thought of what could possibly happen next. Where will they go? She hobbled over to Eostre, giving a gentle nuzzle to their left side. "Stay still, someone will be here to help soon. Thank you for not letting me stay up there." She gave them a genuine warm smile, something she hadn't done in quite a few months.

Hancock Skidding to a halt at the balcony with the others, Hancock looked over for a second before people started jumping off, the numbers quickly dwindling on who was still standing above. Licking his lips, Hancock glanced back at the door before leaping off of the balcony and using the railing to boost himself. This is gonna fuckin hurt! Hancock thought as he fell, but in some ways that only made his blood pump harder, giving him that tingly adrenaline sense in his stomach.
But then he was having a face to face conversation with the ground.
His legs hit first, followed by his body and finally his head smacked against the pavement, a loud crack resounding from his jaw. Oh yeah, something is broken, his mind thought sluggishly for a moment before the adrenaline (and shock) started up again and forced him to his stumbling feet. Blood began to pour slowly from his mouth as he stood fully, quickly spitting out two teeth which chattered and bounced on the cobblestone. Eyes wide, Hancock had to tamper down a grin, the adrenaline high oh so sweet. This was going to hurt later but for now? it felt damn good. Stumbling over to Nova and the others, Hancock did his best to slur some words out "wef gudda move shoon" he barely managed, pain radiating from his surely broken jaw.
Hancock glanced at the Pearl on final time, wondering if she was ever going to be her beautiful self once more. Not without Octo, he thought, turning his head away.

Constance | Aodh | Courtesan3 | 417 Constance didn’t have anytime to think before she was forcibly shoved out of the way of a mother dragon who was not happy. The tip of her snout erupting through the floorboards, the black smoke of her rage mixing with the dust in the air. The mule’s lungs hacked as she thudded to the crumbling floor but quickly scrambling to her cloven hooves. She followed close behind the group rushing to the stairs upon Sinead’s instructions. Looking back to see the jaws of an angry mother was not an option. Her eyes stayed forward, eyes on the prize. Escaping. She quickly passed by Sinead, her “distraction” and Hancock, stopping just a few steps above them. A labored snort rang out at them, affirming the bodyguard’s words to the ex-slave. They really needed what Sinead was attempting for those crucial extra seconds. Not staying long, she turned on her haunches, following suite after Hancock. As she reached the balcony, she watched as her coworkers leapt for their lives, off a questionable height no less. Her head whipped back and forth quickly, sure as hell not wanting to jump out of a failing building onto cobblestone but also not wanting to get eaten by a Legit Dragon. Her heart raced within her chest, feeling as if it were about to burst. One after the other, they all leapt, leaving herself, Araphine, Felix, and Zuriel. And, of course, Sinead. No screams of despair were called out giving Constance a small light of reassurance that the jump wasn’t fatal, just very painful. A deep breath filled her lungs as her eyes shut tight. Adrenaline rushed to her legs, her hooves clattered against the breaking floor of her home. Sooner than she would have hoped, she was in the air, falling. Please, by the Gods, keep me from harm. She thought desperately, before hitting the ground. Her legs took most of the strain, pain shooting through her. A painful yelp escaped her as she finally landed on her side. Her call to the Gods must’ve saved her, or she was just extremely lucky. All she suffered from was a broken leg and serious but treatable scrapes on the side of which she fell. Nostrils flared with the courtesan’s labored breathing as she pulled herself up with the remaining adrenaline and hobbled herself to the forming group. Her mind stayed focused on keeping the pain down and on the surviving equines. There was no room to think about the ones who were left. @nox

Later -when the threat had passed and his emotions had just begun to untangle - Zuriel would have difficulty recalling the trauma of this precise moment. At some point between the collapse and the subsequent retreat, his mind chose to revolt, lurching his consciousness into a state of dissociation that was neither pleasant nor unpleasant, but simply there. His movement was automatic, his emotions repressed, and when the dragon struck her snarling face through the floorboards with the ease that one tore bread, Zuriel did not feel it. The weight of terror couldn't touch where he'd gone to. The horror of snapping teeth and the reanimated flesh that rose to combat it eluded him, leaving behind little more than rationale. He should follow the others, he concluded, or more accurately the directive clicked into place like it was ordained by someone else. He gripped Felix's mane in his teeth, conscious that he kept at his side the last living member of those he loved, and pulled. He ascended the stairs with Felix at his side, so close as to be touching, their bodies vying for space.
They spilled upon the balcony just as the tail broke free and sliced a clean line through the Pearl's ceiling. The balcony shook. Zuriel watched Constance leap over the railing, followed swiftly by Araphine. The path to freedom was set, then. "Jump." He ordered, but it didn't feel like his voice at all. He tugged on Felix's hair, spinning the unicorn's face towards the courtyard. "We have to jump."
Zuriel raised up, placing his hooves on the gilded rail. He waited for Felix to do the same. They pushed off in unison, and Zuriel would later wonder why his stomach didn't drop. He'd always hated heights.
The fall would earn a sprain and several bruised ribs.
(Note that I took care of Araphine and Felix as well!)

4 | 361SINEAD (GROUP NPC) | AODH | COMMONER
And now, it was not her long dead colleagues from the pits who bore accusatory looks into her soul, but the living. Hancock. The mare growled, the sound animalistic and guttural as she was pulled violently from her own personal state of purgatory. She was angry at having wasted what opportunity they had left, and rose to rectify it with teeth bared.
Slamming her hooves into the floorboards, Sinead screamed, bringing forth a battle cry long forgotten in her throat to call upon her god…
Kaia would answer her. Bowing her head to the earth, Sinead raised the dead again, and this time she did not falter.
With the last of the courtesans blundering past in various stages of both apathy and horror, the dragon herself broke through the archway, wooden frame splintering under her influence. Braver in death than perhaps they had been in life, the bodies of Octavia and Zipporah rose to meet the beast, valiantly attempting to beat back an inevitable force.
Sinead found herself lost to the outside world again at the sight, her focus so intent she did not stir from the battlefield until a gaudy coloured brick struck her hip; a hefty reminder that her time here was up.
Pale eyes never leaving the assailant, Sinead found the stairs by feel, stumbling backwards into them and finding herself alone as she ascended. She did not jump down as the others had, but waited, feeling the last of the building's resolve shudder and break away. As the Pearl collapsed, from the wreckage emerged the creature of both beauty and brutality, calling out a lament for her lost children and taking to the skies with translucent, ancient wings.
The balcony would fall with Sinead still upon it, and she merely reacted by leaning back, hocks bent to absorb the impact as it collided with the cobbled street. Stepping off what remained of the platform with the air of: ‘I'm too fucking old for this’, the Forged bred mare regarded her broken party in resignation, rolled the blood that remained within her mouth, and spat it upon the once pristine footpath.
Aodhians really were terribly fragile things. coded by pinn @ thqsinead OUT.
