Khala
[ Valkyrie ]
[ Valkyrie ]
A nod was all Khala could muster in response at first, looking up to see Anna with eyes closed thoughtfully. "Alistair won't be pleased, I can tell you that much," she responded with a snort of amusement, imagining Hira's adoptive brother's general demeanor regarding such things. Young Grigori would cause the most uproar. She didn't want to imagine what the herd would think. Kirins were not of their kind, it had always been known that Kaia had created unicorns, and Ignacio the Kirins. Granted, their relationship with Aodh had generally been positive. But with so much change happening, a female Lord with two small twins. . . it was a weakness to some. But she did not intend to let anyone find out about it, not until there was a more solid plan.
"We should hide out here until we receive instruction from the Stone Circle. Few know of our location; we should keep it that way. Hira was wise to bring those she did. We three Valkyries can handle ourselves well enough." As she spoke she moved around, standing before the fire where Froya and Hjordis lay with the foals. Smiling down at them, she continued. "We'll be just fine. You are both so good with them," she said, addressing them more directly, shooting a reassuring look towards Hjordis. Lastly, Khala called upon her familiar, the snow leopard who had been watching all the while. Turning to a desk in the corner, she unrolled a scroll of parchment, dipped a pen in ink, and wrote a message for the Circle, telling them all that had occurred. At the end, she signed it with her seal and slipped it into a leather tube.
"Take it to Alistair, Zipporah," Khala instructed. "He'll know what to do. Come only when he's given you a return message. Be swift." With a burr, the snowy cat rubbed against her master's legs, grabbed the parcel, and was gone.
"Now, we have but to wait." Whatever the gods were planning, it was big. Turning golden eyes upon the kirin child, she couldn't help but think that he marked significant change. Hireath was on the brink of something larger than life, and she wasn't sure if she was ready to face it. Fortunately, they had time. Here, in the cabin in the woods, they were safe. Fate would come later, for now, there were children to tend, and a War Lord to heal.
Kaia, I sure hope you know what you're doing.
