Credence - Weather Witch
While the others helped themselves, Credence kept a wary eye on their surroundings. Anxious to get going, restless on his hooves, he didn’t bother helping himself to the remains of the campsite. He preferred to travel light anyway. With less weight one could travel faster and had less to lose if the situation when from bad to worse. He let out a sigh of relief when finally the last equine seemed satisfied, and as a group they moved on. The mountain path seamlessly melted away, giving rise to a thicket woodland. The air cooled some, as the temperature intended to in shaded areas down the mountain. Despite the familiarity of it, Credence was not set at ease. Before long, something made the group take pause. A figure in front of them- a moose calf...? As Credence started to worry where the mother might be, the calf started squealing. He wouldn’t have to worry about that for much longer. The Mother burst through the thicket. She was absolutely furious. He froze up. It all happened so quickly after that. He saw Oona and the scout, Ales pulled upward, the antlers of the moose uprooting them like weeds. Oona screamed, and then the moose turned around, quickly getting ready to charge once more. Credence didn’t think than, his instincts drove him to move but not in the direction he thought they may. He dove forward instead of back, placing himself squarely over the foal, horns lowered towards the charging animal. A shimmer of light and a dome solidified itself over the two of them. Distinctly, as the Moose made contact with his shield, Credence wondered what the heck he was doing. “A little help here?!” Credence choked. He didn’t know how long he could hold it. IRILETH Irileth did not touch the supplies – she felt no need for them. The journey was hardly long enough to necessitate them, and a proper Forged knew how to survive off of nature if it was necessary. Or that was what Irileth had been taught to believe, anyway. And if the camp belonged to someone, or their presence had scared off a thief, she’d rather not give them terribly many reasons to trail after the party.
Entering the forest was both a relief and an unpleasant tingle in her spine. She felt at home in Kaia’s woods, always had, but they provided their own, unpleasant challenges. The lack of visibility and the crowded smellscape made it much harder to keep alert and be prepared, at least when one didn’t have a blessing specifically suited towards those needs. Some of her potential worries are realized when they come across a calf, that immediately calls for its mother. Irileth knows what is coming before she sees the thing. Moose weren’t really the types of creatures any sane person wanted to mess with, but it was too late to get enough distance between themselves and the calf.
The mother entered the stage, angry and aggressive. The foal panicked, leaving her side and making a target of herself. She fell, hurt but alive, and moments later their Scout guide was in the same situation, flung off with alarming ease. To action, then.
Credence rose force fields in the foal’s protection. The angry moose was slowed down by it, but she could see the strain. “Credence! I’ll help!” she called, more so in warning than anything else. She stomped her hoof on the ground, and with practiced and decisive speed, earthen barriers rose around the moose. She was careful not to separate the calf and the mother – that would only make the moose more aggressive – but her barriers broke the animal’s line of sight with already wounded targets. She felt there wasn’t enough time for a full corralling, not with their travel group haphazardly placed, but someone else could surely aid further.

S I G L A V Y ...... To each their own, he thought as he rooted quickly through some discarded saddlebags. He found something that smelled and tasted like dried fruit. It seemed like something the Forged had given him before, so he took it. As the group set off again, he began to hope that maybe they could make it home before nightfall. But as the trees began to swallow them, such was not the case.
Siglavy had to admit he had never seen one of these animals yet. The moose calf was lanky and knobby-kneed, shaggy and bumpy. Not exactly a picture of elegance. And that sound? Absolutely terrible. Why did they look like that?
Its mother, however, was a behemoth. The animal was taller than he was, and more aggressive than he would've imagined an ugly deer could be. He had only a few seconds to think, Oh, this might be bad, before the animal charged.
The animal's mighty antlers plucked up the scout and one of the foals like they weighed nothing and chucked them aside. He smelled blood -- the filly had been injured. What did she say her name was? The moose, triggered by her cries, pawed the ground and charged again -- only to be blocked by the gray unicorn. Siglavy saw light flicker in the air as the moose made contact. “A little help here?!” Moments later, the weather witch Irileth had created a loose barrier of earth around it.
The whole situation was playing out in seconds, but it felt like a poorly conducted theatrical scene. Bad, bad, this is Bad. Regardless, he glanced down and found himself already in action, hooves digging into the leaf litter as he gained traction. He instinctively lowered his head, putting his antlers on full display in a move that he felt like he hadn't done in eons (and all things considered, perhaps he really hadn't). A dull roar filled his ears as he slammed into moose flesh with everything he had.

Oona’s double-colored eyes were wide and slick with tears. But she wasn’t crying anymore. Ales had been chucked aside just as she had, but she didn’t turn back to see if he was okay, her eyes on the moose that was pressing itself against a barrier that Credence had suddenly erected.
How did he do it?
The grey and white unicorn had somehow stopped the moose from continuing its charge as he stood over her, and she knew better than to get up. Staying down made her less of a target.
Along with the crystalline barrier, another barrier formed, and this one Oona recognized.
Earth rose in columns around the angry mother, but in an effective way which allowed her to still have access of her calf, and cut her off from the rest of the group. Oona breathed a sigh of relief.
But then she realized she breathed that sigh far too soon.
What on Hireath was he thinking!?
The Kirin, Siglavy, had...honestly, what was he thinking?
She saw him disappear around the earthen wall and heard something, though she wasn’t sure what it was, and wasn’t sure if she ever wanted to know what it was. But, the more she listened, the more certain she was that Siglavy had decided to go hoof on hoof with the moose. Without even thinking, the child shouted.
“Someone’s gotta help him!”

Credence - Weather Witch “Credence! I’ll help!”
Credence did not tear his eyes away from the moose, not trusting himself to speak or risk a break in concentration, he nodded. More to himself as he did not expect Irileth to respond or see the gesture and braced. A wall of earth rose from the ground and pushed the moose back, separating the creature from himself and Ales but not its young. Almost immediately after, the Kirin, Siglavy charged with a vicious cry. He watched the scene with a wide eyed blink, stunned for a moment. He thought perhaps this was overkill, but at least it would keep the moose distracted. Than his force field fell and Credence sighed along with it. He really could not have held it for that much longer. Ignacio’s power was still very new to him. “I think he will be just fine for the moment,” he said to the filly gently, and believed every word. It would be difficult not to with the way the kirin had charged the moose. That had been the look of an experienced fighter, not a novice. His chest still felt hot from the adrenaline. “Can you stand? We need to rejoin the others, and quickly.” With these words he shot a concerned glance towards Ales, but was unwilling to move from the foals side. Post: 5 WC: 214

IRILETH Irileth was amazed by the kirin’s stunt – both by the bravery and the stupidity of it. She looked over to where Credence was, and although she couldn’t see him very well with the earth walls in place, she could hear him speaking, hopefully getting the injured on their feet and away from danger. Irileth wanted to go and help him, but it seemed pertinent to keep as many eyes as possible on the moose, at least until it came to its senses and left with its calf.
“Perhaps you were meant to be a Forged all along!” she shouted at the kirin as she ran up to where he and the moose were. She used her blessing to push the moose again, this time closer to the calf, and away from the party. She wishes she had familiar whisperer, but hopefully the animal would now realize that it would be better off leaving them alone. “You madman”, Irileth said to Siglavy, but she sounded impressed and amused rather than judgmental. Reminded her of her younger days, and all the loveable stupid men he grew up with.

Your group might indeed be feeling as if you're having a bad day, all things considered. But consider the two Moose! Baby gets frightened and is almost stepped on, and Mom? She undergoes a physic attack, runs face first into a magical barrier, witnesses the very earth rise up around her, and then to top it all off? Some horse with antlers for a head decides to ram her. And all because she was trying to protect her baby from you lot! In her forest! Honestly, what is this neighborhood coming to?
With some distance between herself and you, along with a bruised ego (plus some regular bruises), the Moose lopes off into the forest with a last disgruntled huff, her baby scampering along in her wake.
So you pick yourselves up, dust yourselves off, and continue on towards Skeldr. Because, well. It's not like you have much choice. And you're getting close! You make it through the forest without any more major events or terrorizing any more law-abiding Moose citizens. But you're not out of the woods yet (the metaphorical ones, anyways) because the last leg of your journey now approaches: the water crossing.
The water is shallow... but that's about the best that can be said for it. It's absolutely frigid, is swift-moving, and a wonderful waterfall upstream has made the water choppy, opaque, and great at hiding rocks. And of course there's no bridge.
Work together to find the best place to cross and help everyone over the water!

Oona looked up to Credence as his force field vanished, the shimmering dome glittering into nothingness. She seemed to have forgotten her own problems when he sighed, her ears folded back, worried that whatever he had done had taken a serious toll on him. But he answered her question, which was good, because she was, surprisingly, concerned for the Kirin, of all people. At the mention of standing, Oona remembered her leg, which stung quite a bit, but luckily the cut wasn’t deep. Without answering immediately, she slowly pushed herself up, delicately putting pressure on her injured limb. It was fine, it just needed a good cleaning.
“Yeah...I’m okay…” She turned to look over to where she thought her basket was, and she took a sharp intake of breath before releasing an awful whine.
“Noooo...my basket!” The basket was, as stated some posts ago, completely smashed, the contents coating the fibers, and Oona’s person. “It took me forever to gather all of those berries…” She sighed, but was immediately distracted at Irileth praising (or was she scolding?) the Kirin, Siglavy. The filly couldn’t quite tell!
The sounds of hooves moving away indicated that the angry moose and her calf had gone, which meant peace was once again restored among the group. Oona sighed in relief. Before long, the group was heading out once more. Unfortunately for Oona, her basket was worthless, so she left it behind to be returned to the earth.
After what felt like ages to Oona, with her leg still stinging, they made it to their next hurdle, a stream. But of course, there was no bridge, which meant they needed to find another way to cross. But seeing as they were at a stream, the child took the liberty to clean her wound.
“Brrr! The water is so cold!” The girl winced, but it was necessary to clean out a wound, especially from a wild animal. She would have to clean the berry juice and pulp from her pelt and furs when she got home.
“Wait.” A thought struck the child. ”Can we walk on that thing you made before, Credence? That sparkly bubble that stopped the moose? Or make the earth big and make a bridge, whoever did that.”

Credence - Weather Witch
Credence breathed a sigh of relief as the moose finally went on its way, calf in line behind her. At long last they were on their way home. Oh, what wouldn’t he give for a steaming cup of tea and a warm hearth to bask in front of. As a group they passed through another stretch of woodland until finally, finally they reached the last obstacle of their journey. A stream. Oona washed the cut on her leg while Credence and the others deliberated on how best to cross the river. The water was cold and the foam from the shimmering waterfall just upstream made it difficult to see the rocks underneath. Credence was not concerned with his own ability to cross, perhaps foolishly, as while the water looked shallow enough looks could be deceiving. Stone could give away to silt, and silt to mud. Shallow though it may be, swift water led to clumsy hooves. Stones were slick in water like this. “Wait,” Grey ears swiveled towards the foal as she spoke. “I’m afraid I don't have the strength to. I can’t hold it while moving, my concentration falters.” He shook his head and then nodded towards Irileth. “Do you think you could build us a bridge?” He asked her. “Alternatively, we could find a tree just tall and wide enough to use on a narrower section of the river though it may take longer.”

IRILETH The moose, thankfully, left and did not return, although Irileth listened for the forest a good while, just in case there was more trouble to be had. They were close to home now – she knew it. But there was a river between them and Skeldr Town, and coming to its banks, Irileth really wished there was a bridge for them to cross. But things were never quite that simple, it seemed, and they would have to make their own way across somehow. The currents made the water’s true depth hard to gauge, and also made sure that it was frigidly cold regardless of season, always moving and splashing about.
“I could, yes. It would be draining and take me a while, but I am well-acquainted with my power by now”, she said, surveying the surroundings and then looking to their comrades to see if anyone had any other ideas. “An earth bridge will be easier to cross than a tree. The tree will get slippery quicker, and the rounded shape is not ideal for children”, Irileth added. She walked some way along the river, making sure not to lose the rest of her group, and after finding a more narrow spot, concentrated and began construction on an earthen bridge. After getting the start done, she began to walk along it, pushing and moving the earth gently and patiently.

There were plenty of this Oona had seen that were far from fascinating. In this small (if you could even call this small) trip, she had seen a ton of things that were outstanding. First, Credence with his force fields (she thought the stallion was being way too modest about his abilities). Siglavy with his insurmountable courage and, dare she think it, utter disregard for his life. And last, but certainly not least, was Irileth. Oona hadn’t actually seen who conjured the wall of earth, but Credence had seen, and he was asking what she herself had, but the difference was that he knew who had done it.
Dumbstruck, she wondered if anyone else here had some amazing thing they could do. All she could do was herd sheep and goats really well and pick berries.
She followed along behind Irileth, giving the mare space as to do her incredible magic. In all reality, Oona wasn’t even sure if that magic would have worked. She just parroted the gifts she had seen happen. And the more she thought about it, the more the earth moving made sense; Irileth was gifted by Kaia herself. She wasn’t sure about the force field gift, but it was better she didn’t ask Credence about it right now, especially since it would lead her into directions regarding the Kirins and that’s not necessary right now.
“That’s amazing…” Oona breathed, watching the earth twist and pack seemingly on it’s own, but she knew now that it was Irileth who was performing such an extraordinary feat of magic. “I wonder if I will be able to do anything like what you and Credence do someday.” She wasn’t sure. She’d definitely have to pray to Kaia for thanks for Irileths magic. Then she’d have to thank Cascade for not getting mad that they were trying to avoid her waters. Then she’d have pray to Alya because they got through the pass safely.

S I G L A V Y ...... He was only aware of digging in his heels as the moose turned and met him head-on. Although strength-wise, he felt like they were pretty well-matched, he still felt and worried about the immense strain on his head -- after all, his antlers weren't anywhere as bulky as the moose's. Regardless, the action of wrestling stirred a memory, but he tamped it down. He could explore it later, but not now, not when it was going to be a distraction. Where was the calf? It was hard to tell when one's face was nearly touching the dirt.
Siglavy felt a rush of air nearby, and suddenly the weight of the moose on his antlers lessened. “Perhaps you were meant to be a Forged all along!” a mare was saying. In another moment, the moose was shoved away completely. “You madman.” Siglavy raised his head and saw that it had been Irileth. "Hmm . . . perhaps," he said.
The moose seemed offended, but collected her calf and disappeared into the trees. Siglavy's legs ached, but he couldn't spot any immediate damage. Bruises took time, after all.
The group gathered themselves up as best as they could and set off once more. It wasn't long before they came across a stream -- fairly shallow to be sure, but certainly treacherous with the current so fast and frothy. He looked up and down the bank as he listened to the others discussing a way to cross, but he saw nothing close that they could use to cross. The gray unicorn suggested finding a tree, but Siglavy quietly agreed that it would take too long. Besides, as Irileth pointed out, a fallen tree bridge didn't sound all that safe -- could Kaia's trees support a half ton horse? He didn't want to test it. But he did like the idea of an earth bridge.
"We still have some daylight left," he said. "A little wait for a safe crossing will be worth it."

Credence - Weather Witch “We still have some daylight left," Siglavy said. "A little wait for a safe crossing will be worth it."
“I suppose you’re right.” Credence agreed with a small sigh. “I’m simply impatient to get home.” Slowly, Irileth began work on the bridge. What a relief it was to finally be on their way again. He was glad she had the strength left to do so and resolved to thank her once they crossed the stream. He didn’t want to break her concentration. "That’s amazing…” the young filly, Oona spoke. “I wonder if I will be able to do anything like what you and Credence do someday.”
Credence smiled softly and thought of a time in his youth when he had felt similarly. He thought of his brother, mother and the warm embrace of the Gods of Fire and Earth. “Perhaps one day you will.” And didn’t feel like speaking anymore after that. Soon they began to cross. Credence followed the others at a slow and cautious pace. Goddess knows the last thing they needed was for someone to tumble into the water just as they nearly made it to the end of their journey. The stream gurgled, sounding much like a laugh to the Weather Witch’s ears. The white water reminded him of snow caps, blizzards and ribbons of white in the sky, spread across the great blue canvas like a painter’s brush. He wondered what the coming winter would bring. It took time, but eventually their patience was rewarded. At least the bridge connected with the other side of the stream. As his hoof made contact with the bank on the other, Credence sent one last glance up the mountain slope. They were nearly home. Post: 7 WC: 242

IRILETH Irileth kept working, trusting her party to keep her safe, should any more unexpected situations arise. She was not bothered by anyone, and slowly but surely, the bridge was formed. It wasn’t the widest, but it was sturdy, and safe enough for all of them to cross. She walked across first, testing the bridge as she went, and adding a bit of earth where needed. She was sweaty and tired and more than ready for a good sleep back home, but they had made it. Irileth shot the party a smile and nodded, telling them it was safe to cross.
Soon enough they would be home, and she couldn’t be happier about it. They were even mostly in one piece, which was always a big bonus. “Shouldn’t be too much between us and Skeldr Town now”, she says. Irileth is mostly pleased that she didn’t need to call upon her other, weaker blessing on this particular trip, although she would have if needed, even if it probably wouldn’t have provided them terribly much utility. “Shame about your berries”, Irileth said to Oona, smiling a soft, friendly smile. Luckily the child was safe, and could have many further adventures picking berries in the future.

Oona smiled and flicked her tail when both Siglavy and Credence seemed to agree with her little idea about an earth bridge. She felt kind of smart! Considering there were a bunch of them there, she didn’t feel the anxiety to rush home, after the moose incident, she felt much safer close to the others, particularly Irileth, Credence and Siglavy for their incredible feats earlier.
The child flashed Credence a smile, thankful for his vote of confidence. Who knows, maybe she could be the next Credence or Irileth with their magic? Or maybe she could discover something new? Someday.
Soon enough, Irileth had constructed a bridge of earth for them to cross. The mare cross first, testing it, giving Oona a bit of anxiety as the water was still rushing and bubbling underneath. One false move and Irileth could tumble. But steady as Kaia, the mare beckoned them across. If it weren’t for her highflying escape with Faye, this height might have made Oona a little bit nervous. But the child trotted across as if the danger below them wasn’t even there; to her, the moose posed more of a problem than this hurdle did.
Once safe on the other side, Oona gave the bridge a look over again. She wondered if Irileth was keeping it up, or if it would eventually erode away. She didn’t bother asking the question, as they were quickly on their way again. She stuck close to Irileth as she had before, though she noted where Credence and Siglavy were, just in case she got separated from Irileth again. She really hoped that was the last bit of their adventure.
The girl nodded when Irileth spoke, the child was sure she was beginning to recognize the area they were in; surely they were close now. As they walked, her mind began to wander, but she was snapped out of it when Irileth regarded her.
“It’s okay. I know where more are. I just wanted to make some jam.” The girl smiled sheepishly. Preserves were always good to have on hand, and the berries made a nice treat for the animals too. “I’m gonna have to learn how to make a new basket.”
