N U R I K O Male | Grower | Kawaru Briem
His day began with the sun. It snuck in through the window, laying its glowing rays over the floors and walls, dousing the two sleeping equines. Nuriko roused first. He always did. The light was different, strange but not unwelcomed. He had grown accustomed to getting up early now and even looked forward to the work ahead. The fields were paying off with the vegetation growing strong and tall. The work he could do with his blessing saved all the equines close to him countless hours of irrigation and watering. This seemed to be a life he could handle, for now.
Head lifted, hair messed and tousled from the night’s sleep, he rose slowly to brush it through and tie it back. His working robes were placed over his hide before he stepped close to nose Mairon awake. His love had swelled with their child and his admiration for the blacksmith grew each day. Today however, as much as he wanted to let the Kirin sleep, was a day that the once pure unicorn had etched into the calendar. A day to go over what Vasall had accomplished so far and what would surely come in the future. Once the Kirin had risen, the hybrid helping as much as he could to get the other ready, they ventured out towards the designated meeting place. A note had been left for Acuna, who Nuriko was housing, on where they would be meeting. Once stationed upon the rolling hill, looking out over the farmland, the equine lifted a rolled up ball of rice from his saddle bags and offered it to his love. “Eat something. I didn’t see you grab anything for yourself before we left…”

"Dream big, fall far."
Awaking with a start, Acuna sat up rather quickly. The mid morning sun peaking through the window of the room she was staying in. It was nice to not be awaken at the early rising of the Sedo sun, but now being a humble traveller in Vasall, she could have time to learn the way of Breim. Standing to her hooves, Acuna listened to the noises of the home - the quietness echoing through her ears. Getting her braids and pulling the loose strains back through with trouble, collecting her saddlebags that she had placed carefully and out the way, she finally made her way out of her guest room. Acuna had been one of the willing citizens of Seora to come help progress of agriculture and thus far made herself more useful in Vasall than in the Oasis. It was almost like Vasall was a second home, with Nuriko being nice enough to let her stay in his home, with his family.
Acuna almost walked out the front door, but noticed a note left for her by Nuriko. The young mare's eyes drifted over the note, absorbing the contents within it. Nuriko was the first face she saw when arriving into Vasall and Acuna was highly grateful for their friendship and his on going kindness to her. She truely hoped great things for him and Breim's people. With a flash, she was out the door and on her way to the meeting spot - having a a snack in her saddlebag already. Acuna couldn't lie, she was somewhat nervous of this day but knew that it would be important for the continuous growth of Breim and the partnership of Serora. It took a little while for Acuna to see the rolling hills of where the said meeting was taking place, but when she saw the outline of equines in the distance, she thrusted herself forward into a canter; not wanting to miss anything.
"Don't start without me!" Her voice rang out, as she drew closer and closer until she could see Nuriko's coat perfectly in the sunlight.

Mairon [ post #1 || word count: 288 ] |
Early mornings were not the kirin’s favorite thing, in fact, they weren’t even on his top ten list of favorite things. However, waking up to the soft touch of his lover was by far the best way to start an early morning. Mairon gathered his feet beneath him and rose. It was a task that was becoming increasingly taxing as his belly grew bigger and bigger. It wouldn’t be long before their family would increase by one. That is unless Nuriko kept housing more wandering souls in need of help. To be fair he’d become quite fond of Acuna. Her help around the house had been an immense relief recently. The kirin stretched and noticed Nuriko attempting to get his bed hair under control. “Allow me.” He said picking up the brush with his teke and running it through the other’s multi-colored mane.
Once ready they headed out to the meeting point. With the fresh air, morning sunlight, and the air full of birdsong the kirin felt like he was finally fully awake. He glanced over at Nuriko, who strode onward purposefully in his regal robes. It was an important day for him and Mairon was ready to support him in whatever way he could. “You are going to be amazing.” The metalsmith said as he nudged his partner gently.
Upon reaching the hilltop, Mairon was starting to feel hungry and was delighted when Nuriko offered him a rice ball. He had just finished it when Acuna came cantering up. He dipped his head in greeting to the Seroran mare. “Good morning, Acuna. Don’t worry you got here with time to spare.” He said looking out over the rolling to see if he could spot anyone else approaching.

Conner Outcast
Conner had been up since the sun shone its first rays through the crack in his tent flap. His cloak was bundled up and held in his teke and had been for a while, so he could sit in the peace and quiet and soak up the early morning sunrays. He'd have been content to do so all day, if he didn't already promise to prior engagements. So with reluctance he pulled his cloak over his shoulders and did up the clasp, the dark purple fabric, woven with a few choice gemstones embedded in places, including a couple making up the clasp that set on the front, covered most of the scales on his back. The only ones showing were the spines around his neck that poked out underneath his silvered mane. He took one last look out over the silent hills before turning back the way he came to his tent.
He really needed to invest in some saddle bags, he mused, throwing open the flap to his tent and striding inside. He adjusted the glasses on his face and picked up his journal he'd been keeping of observations on how things had been preceding since his arrival three months ago. It was also filled with loose papers of drawings of methods for possibly improving current methods with technology. These things would come in time, of course, but for now they stayed as concepts on a page. Clutching the book tightly in his teke he set out across the farmlands to the hill where they were set to meet. He was about to pull his hood up when he recognized the familiar glint of horns next to bright red scales. He knew who those two were, and if Marion was willing to show up, Conner felt comfortable enough to let his antlers show.
"Marion! Nuriko! It is good to see you both. How has Vassal been treating you?" He called out, a small smile on his face at seeing his former housemates. He'd been too busy the past three months to really visit anyone, so he was glad to see that two of his early acquaintances since his rebirth seemed, on the surface at least, to be doing fine.

Acheron of SeroraIt isn’t unusual for the roan to be out of his tent by the time the sun has begun to peek over the horizon, already out amongst the growing rows of plants and working his blessing to continue encouraging them to grow. It was hard work, and yet he could often be found with a smile on his lips, humming or singing to the plants as he coaxed their slow growth into something faster, something more sustainable, something hardier.
He could spend all day out in the fields, but today there is something far more pressing -- a meeting to which he had been summoned to discuss the progress and future of Vasall. The thought of being included in such a meeting, of being recognized as important enough somehow to participate, has a nervous knot in his stomach even before he begins the walk to the top of the hill where he sees several equines gathered already. The nerves subside a little bit as he grows close enough to realize he recognizes most of the faces, even in passing -- and Conner is there, with a hood covering most of his scales, along with another kirin he doesn’t quite recognize except for having seen them around the camp.
Do all kirins have such pretty scales, or is it just the ones I know? The thought is fleeting as he catches sight of the golden mare standing next to Nuriko. “Acuna!” His smile is bright and warm when he recognizes the other Seroran, and he moves forward to bump his muzzle against hers affectionately. “Alya’s wings, I’m glad to see that you’re safe! Do you know how Danae and Lucie are faring?” He has so many questions about those he considers his family, so many names he could rattle off -- but he settles for the ones that he’s sure Acuna would know the status of, despite his burning questions. He pulls back from her, ears perked forward and waiting for her reply before he turns towards the rest of the group.
"Good morning! I hope I'm not too late."

"Dream big, fall far."
Acuna had stopped now, just beside Nuriko. She may of been exhausted but listened intently to Marion. Acuna had grown quite fond of the kirin, especially Marion was the first ever kirin she met before - and wasn't intimidated by that kind anymore. Well- she never thought kirin were scary... okay maaaaybe one time. The young haflinger mix smiled widely at Marion, giving him a small nod of respect. It was the least Acuna could do for Marion and Nuriko, since she was staying in their home and was taking up most of their personal time to just be in their company. Acuna had considered them family to her.
"Thank Ayla!" The mare laughed, trying to catch her breath back, "How's junior doing? Any kicks this morning?" The mare added, looking towards the older Kirin. Helping around the house was fun, especially when the home owners weren't rude like her own mother. Chores were actually fun to do, and even stubborn old Acuna could admit that. Before Acuna could speak anymore to Marion or Nuriko, she noticed another friendly face appear; another kirin. The young mare admired the newer kirin's antlers and just simply smiled, knowing it was not her turn to speak to the stranger. Acuna was relaxed, for possibly the fifth time this month. It had been a little while since she travelled on her own to explore the wilderness of Sedo and eventually, wander into Breim. It had been risky for a young lady such as herself to travel alone into unknown lands, but ultimately it had been worth it. Those thoughts of the rough terrain and the landscapes that had captured her heart and soul flew from her mind when she heard the familiar voice of an equine she had believed was back in Sedo.
"Acheron?" Acuna quizzically responded, shocked to see a familiar face from home. It was one of those rare moments where she grinned, pleased to see someone from back home who knew of the desert land that she called home. She moved forward rather quickly to bump muzzles back, in her affectionate way. Acheron had become family to her as well, since she was cousins with Danae, a beautiful but mute mix breed; just like herself. "Wind beneath your wings. It's good to see you safe too!" The mare's ears flicked around as he asked about Danae and Lucie, trying to remember their last conversation together. Acuna could only think of when they travelled the sands together, to get Acuna away from work on day. With a deep breath, Acuna's grin faded down into a small but humble smile.
"When I saw them last, they were doing good for themselves. Miss them like no tomorrow." Acuna admitted to him, watching his body language carefully. The female knew he cared for them as much as she did and ultimately hoped that they were still okay, especially with the repairs ongoing in Sedo. In a way, Acuna wished she could help her homeland but right now she was helping progress relations with Kawaru - whether it be from her position as a folk. The mare pulled away and looked towards the other faces, hoping she could introduce herself sooner than later.

IW: Nuriko, Mairon, Acuna Although Lyrica had been hesitant to leave Sterling, afraid of the issues that could arise with no other Arisen in the city, she had been coaxed out by the promises of progress and smiles in Vasall. Indeed, when she arrived, her hooves landing on Kaia's ground for the final time, her mind had been somewhat panicked, although she'd never let it show. How were things in Sterling? Were the Umare trying another of their tricks, forcing the Kawaru she loved so dearly to survive on less and less?
But as she had stayed here longer, in her little tent, her mind eased. The Kawaru were smart- they would be able to handle themselves. And all that she had seen had further bolstered her confidence. Nuriko and the Serorans had truly done a fantastic job, and Lyrica wanted to tell him that.
Spotting the hybrid in the distance, along with Mairon and a young mare that she did not recognize, she trotted over, her wings out in the morning sunshine to feel the breeze. She nodded at the two Kawaru, smiling widely. "They have seen us meet," she said, and, focusing on Nuriko, she added, "and they have surely seen the wonderful work you have done, Nuriko. This all looks fantastic! The Kawaru appreciate all you've done."
She then turned to the younger mare, all spots and smiles. She seemed bright and happy in the morning light, under Alya's skies. "I don't believe we've met, young one. My name is Lyrica. What's yours?"

The brigade that Reid had formed on his way up to Vasall just two seasons ago had grown into a close-knit family, if one could call it that. The Serorans had treated him with utmost fairness, and in return he helped many of them decipher his beloved books on the many medicines his mother had written down. He felt that things were looking up for the Kawaru, and he held pride in himself for that.
The young Arisen had been up for several hours. The first, he spent praying to Alya whilst her moons shone high above him. He thanked her for the will of her children and the might of their abilities. The second, to Argus, praying for wisdom and guidance in the meeting to be had today. The last he spent to Cascade, asking for peace and unity between the herd members.
After a brief breakfast, he went out to check on the crop, a habit of his to write down all that he observed. 'Not much today.' he thought to himself, jotting down his findings with a pleased smile on his face.
His attention was drawn away at the sight of gathering equine in the near distance. Reid cast a final glance down at the wheat he had been documenting, then trotted down the path to greet an old friend.
"It is a pleasure to see you again, Nuriko," he said with a broad smile. He knew every face that nestled in within the small crowd, having spent time with each member to discuss their contributions and their abilities. But none was more familiar and reassuring than Nuriko and Mairon's, having met the two before he even became an Arisen. They had known him when he was a meek boy, crying for his mother. Now they were working together, above the surface that once tried to crush them nearly a year ago.
He still didn't know much about Lyrica, the other Arisen who had recently joined him on his quest for progress. She had spent most of her time in Sterling while he was above ground, only meeting her briefly before he left. Nonetheless, he felt a bit reassured to see her speaking amongst the others.
Reid cleared his throat, dipping his nose down to the earth before raising it high into the air. "What have we got?" He looked back to the hybrid, recently transformed before his departure from Sterling. "And what are your plans?"

She had to admit, given the choice between the surface and the underground, she would choose the underground. Perhaps it was a lifetime of familiarity, but there was just something... odd, about being so exposed to the elements and their whimsy. It didn't mean that the surface wasn't pleasant, but it wasn't home. She hadn't stayed in Vasall after the deal had been struck, but she had been back to visit once or twice (there were only so many times that she could face the journey - he legs were half the size of most horses, it felt like twice the effort). She was more invested in the success of the project than she had thought she would be, so it was nice to see the progress. Plus, it was a nice change of pace. In Sterling she had been spending more and more of her time networking, trying to foster useful relationships in a society that was far more capitalistic than she was used to, and one that held an inherent bias against her. She was making progress, but it was mentally exhausting. She didn't find that in Vasall, particularly with the Serorans, who seemed about as familiar with capitalism as she had been. It was... nice. Relaxing, almost.
She'd elected to take up one of the Serorans, Acheron, on the offer to stay with him and was returning his hospitality with some literary tutelage. Or at least, she was when he wasn't working in the fields, which seemed to be a lot of time. Perhaps it wasn't a strictly necessary arrangement, but she was looking at it as a good opportunity to try and foster stronger relationships, as well as learn some more about Seroran culture. After her first visit above ground, she had written to her father to try and ply him for additional information on the ways of the wind horses, but she'd gotten less back than she's hoped for. Her father had responded with some whimsical tales of the desert nomads, but little firsthand experience.
She had been carefully documenting things she'd noticed for her own reference (Reid might have been observing the plants, but Rori was more interested in the people) and that morning she had been jotting down various musings from the (relative) comfort of the tent she was calling home for the time being. It was the sound of voices gathering that roused her to notice the time. She quickly stashed her notes and trotted outside, heading briskly for the group. As was her norm, she dropped into a bow of greeting to the members of the group. "Wind beneath your wings," she said quietly as she stood, adopting the Seroran phrase.

Eyes flickered over the group that had gathered to him. Good, it seemed everyone was here that he had asked or that had heard about the meeting. He gave a small nod to all who acknowledged him, struggling not to fall back into his King's Guide authoritative ways. After all, this was his meeting right? Instead he shook his head and cleared his throat, the farming robes upon his back shifting slightly.
"First and foremost, we should exchange formalities. Breimians greet each other with two hoof taps and a bowed head followed by, 'They have seen us meet.' For those who don't know me, I am Nuriko. I have called you all here today to go over what we have accomplished so far, to walk the grounds and brainstorm the future and to get your ideas and input. Please, say your herd greeting, your name and a little about yourself. It would help to get everyone comfortable and ready for the day, yes?" A bit of unsurety flicked off his form, but he was trying a different approach, something softer and more at ease. He took a small step towards Mairon, wanting nothing more then to touch his shoulder, but that was saved for the safety of their home.

Mairon [ post #2 || word count:293] |
The kirin smiled at Acuna’s query. “The little one has been pretty quiet today.” He replied in a grateful tone. It meant he’d actually been able to get a good night’s sleep last night. At Conner’s apporach Mairon dipped his head in greeting. “The air topside does wonders.” He replied to his fellow kirin.
His attention shifted to Nuriko as his partner called the meeting to order. So this must be everyone. He thought as his pale gold eyes swept those gathered. He paused, realizing Reid had joined them. He hadn’t seen Reid since the catastrophe in Sterling. The grey stallion looked to be doing well for himself. His attention was once more grabbed by Nuriko as he mentioned formal greetings. Mairon had seen the Breimian greeting hundreds of times and could have likely pulled it off fairly well. But the kirin had never considered himself a part of the herd, indeed he harbored little love for the Breimians, especially the Umare. Adopting their ways now would feel forced.
He lifted his head high and crossed one cloven hoof in front of the other, then he lowered his head. His single unbroken antler sparkling ruby red in the morning light. “May the fire burn eternal and ever warm your hearth.” The intoned kirin blessing was old and Mairon vaguely wondered if anyone still used it these days. He recalled it being a favored greeting among his family. He raised his head and met the gazes of those gathered. “I am Mairon. I am a metalsmith and partner to Nuriko.” He looked over at the blue roan and smiled. No point hiding his affection for the robed hybrid or waxing eloquent for longer than need be. Nuriko was the word master not him.

Conner Outcast
Conner nodded in return to Nuriko and smiled at Marrion as he replied. "Indeed it does." He chuckled. Slowly the rest of the party arrived. He nodded his head in greeting to the other briemians, and to Acheron as they arrived. Some of them had a similar idea to himself in bringing books with them, probably like his, filled with notes on what had changed in the past three months. Though he doubted that theirs would also be full of potential inventions to improve those things. His head snapped to attention when Nuriko began speaking. Despite it being almost half a year since their escape, the hybrid (another thing that he still had to get used too, and something) still could pull that politician voice out when he wanted, and it almost always did demand attention. So, they were going to be doing it this way huh? Aside from two or three faces, Conner was familiar with everyone here, but he guessed the others must be less familiar.
Initially, he'd planned to wait until several others had gone, he was but an outcast in the briemian society, his opinion not holding much weight in the grand scheme of things. (A mistake on their part, he had often mused) However something stirred in him when he heard Marion intone the old greeting from their time. Moved by both old habit and wishing to, for the moment, partake in his old society, mimicked Marion's movements. He raised his head, crossed one front leg in front of the other, and lowered his head, meeting the other kirin's eye. "And may the fire burn as bright and warm for you and yours." He responded, smiling. He then raised his head and tapped his foot on the ground twice, addressing the others. "They have seen us meet." He paused for a moment to absorb the fact that even still he was trying to balance his old methods with the new ones of this new age. And you wonder why you still have trouble acclimating to the briemian way of life old man.
He coughed and cleared his throat "I am Conner, I have both been chronicling the advancements of the settlement over the past three months, and developing technology to help advance us further." He gestured with an angling of his head to the book that he held in his teke. "I look forward to helping our alliance grow stronger." The last part, while he meant it, was also mostly for formalities sake. What he really was looking forward to was finally creating physical prototypes again. It had been too long since he'd invented something useful, far too long.

The Umare sensibilities in Rori twitched at the idea of greeting everyone with a two-tap greeting, though they also stopped her from reacting outwardly. Afterall, it was the height of rudeness to correct another, and one of her more disliked habits - allowing the continuation of misinformation as a result of misguided social formalities. Though, she rationalised, it wasn't really misinformation; it was the result of a different culture. The formal bow of the Umare was rarely seen within the Kawaru, which in turn raised the question of what counted as a Breimian greeting. Which was more Breimian, the Umare or the Kawaru? Now there was a poisoned chalice she was in no hurry to drink from.
She let her focus settle instead on the kirins in the group, who were offering a fleeting glimpse into an ancient culture once long lost to time. That culture may not have been held particularly dear to her birth herd, but it there was something fascinating about it, and the living history amongst them. It was probably rude to think of Mairon and Connor as living history, but she was hardly calling them it to their faces, and they kind of were whether they liked to admit that or not.
At the brief lull after Connor's introduction, she decided she may as well chime in with her own contribution. However, instead of the already demonstrated tapped greeting, she elected for the bow, sliding her right hoof forward and dropping low to the ground. It wasn't a correction to earlier, more an addition, and her mind it was probably the more useful greeting for outsiders to know - there was no such thing as too many manners, but a perceived lack of them could be... inconvenient at least. Perhaps less so amongst the Kawaru, but Umare were sensitive to such things, and Rori felt it an unspoken duty of hers to at least try and set these foreigners up with a chance of success should they cross paths with Umare, however unlikely that situation might be. "They have seen us meet," she intoned as she rose to her feet again. "The bow is a more formal greeting, and generally expected when meeting a superior," she explained briefly. Who counted as a superior was a whole different can of worms, and not one that was appropriate to open at this point in time. "My name is Oriole. Until the start of this year, I was a magi in the shrine of Cascade within Nariah. Now, I am a citizen of the Kawaru." It had been less than a year... how things had changed and time had flown.

Acheron of SeroraHe cannot help but breathe out a sigh of relief when he hears that Danae and Lucie are doing well despite the recent war and upheaval. He is, perhaps, closer to Danae than the rest of his adopted family, their relationship fostered by his apprenticeship under her mother and the fact that they had, essentially, forced him to face his trauma around fire head-on and come out stronger for it.
(Well, at the very least, he stopped freezing up and screaming whenever he saw fire. That counted as progress, right?)
He steps forward in the quiet after Oriole finishes speaking, his ears laying back slightly at the thought of all the attention being on him.
“A common Seroran greeting is ‘wind beneath your wings’, often with some sort of touch such as a kiss on the cheek or touching muzzles together.” He clears his throat briefly, shifting his weight from one hoof to the other; would they want a demonstration, as so many of the others had done? Or would his own greeting to Acuna, and her response, be enough of an example? He was grateful to have Acuna there -- she would be able to help him, here, in explaining their own culture to a herd that seemed much more formal than their own. “All Serorans, whether related or not, are treated as family, as our survival relies upon being able to depend upon one another in times of trouble.”
He pauses, glancing to each of the familiar faces before he offers a welcoming smile to those he doesn’t recognize. “My name is Acheron. I am a Savior in my own herd, but my family has owned a farm for some time now, and I came to share what I know to help the Kawaru. I was also gifted a Blessing from the Earth Mother that has allowed me to encourage the crops to grow despite their late start, so that they will be ready to begin harvesting this year.”

"Dream big, fall far."
Acuna watched as the other equines interacted; expressing their greetings whether it was Breimian or Seroran. She grinned at Marion's response, happy he was doing well for himself. The mare couldn't help but feel nervous, as this was an important time for the growth of the kawaru. Ayla's skies were beautiful that day, which seemed to make the situation a lot brighter. Maybe their chosen gods were smiling down upon them. Her scarred body shifted slightly, moving her legs around to get comfortable on the hill. Acuna hadn't seen this much grass and honestly, it was starting to itch. It took a few moments until Acuna realised it was her turn to take the spotlight after hearing a mare speak to her, asking her of her name.
"Wind beneath your wings." Acuna greeted everyone, with a nod of her head. She hoped she was making a good first impression on others but also, displaying herself correctly for the equines who knew her. Her long braids which were tied against her chest swayed as she moved. "I am Acuna, from Serora just like Acheron is!" the mare glanced at Lyrica with a smile before looking back to the whole group. Realising she was sounding a little too excitable, she took a deep breath to sound more.. 'relaxed' "I am too from a farm, and have a particular talent with plants. I originally came here to explore, but formally, I am here to assist your crusade." As Acuna spoke, she wondered what it would be like if she hadn't been involved in all this.
"Also~, I'm currently staying with Nuriko and Marion. It's an honour to stay within their home." The young mare smiled some more, acknowledging the two equines with pride. She hoped to stay around long enough to see their newborn running around the home, and maybe, they'd allow her to help them. But only time would tell. The mare observed everyone again, before stepping back to signal that she had finished speaking for the moment.

As the group gave their greetings, Nuriko smiled. This gathering of equines, while from all sorts of different places, seemed ready to work together. It was a rewarding feeling, watching and seeing the fruits of his labor slowly sprouting before him. Not just in the fields but in the way these equines interacted. "Thank you all for sharing a part of yourself. Now... We can talk logistics along the way but I actually have a slightly different purpose for this meeting." He announced, shooting Reid a small mischievous look before stepping in time with Mairon down the warn farm path.
"It was brought to my attention by a few of the farmers, and while they have breimian knowledge, they could not figure out the markings, and thus became hesitant to use those fields. I figured with our different herd knowledge and skill sets we could potentially unearth... something." The trek took about an hour and soon enough they arrived at the half tilled land. The sun was close to reaching it's peak but not quiet there yet.
"This." He spoke, gesturing with his head towards a large half buried boulder. It seemed ordinary, until anyone ventured close.

Lyrica smiled at Acuna as she introduced herself, smiling at her excitement. "Well met, Acuna," she said, smiling at the younger mare. "You must know much more than I about plants. I only know about managing others." She chuckled then, for her managing was not always perfect. "I'm glad we get to work together." Her wings moved a bit in the sunshine, moving air around so that she could stay cool. She overheated easily, and her wings were a blessing at times.
As Nuriko began to speak again, Lyrica turned and listened. Markings that even Breimens could not figure out? Strange, to say the least. She followed Nuriko on foot for a while, before taking to the skies. She greatly enjoyed flying, and often did not have enough time or space to do it. She enjoyed Alya's breezes, flipping and turning and soaring through the sunshine, doing tricks. Maybe she would entertain those below her with her antics.
All too soon, however, it was time to come back down to earth, as she saw Nuriko slow to a stop. She landed gracefully to the right of the group, then stepped forward to see what Nuriko was gesturing to- a large stone, half-buried in the earth. She stepped forward, hoping to get a better look. Maybe she could see and understand the markings that the others could not. Who knew what mysteries this stone held?

BOULDER Rock | Surface Dweller
As a presence steps closer, etched markings in the stone seem to slowly appear. They shift and move until settling into their spots upon the hard surface. To those with scholars eyes they would be old breimian markings, almost maybe from before the war? A soft pull seems to come from the object, as if beckoning the others around to also come close.

Mairon [ post #3 || word count: 331 ] |
Something was afoot. The kirin did not know anything about this. So he walked beside Nuriko eager to see what it what the hybrid had planned to show them. Unreadable markings certainly sounded promising. A shadow passed over them as Lyrica soared overhead. The kirin’s curiosity was roaming as they made the light trek. So he was disappointed to say the least when they stopped in a field with a large boulder in it. And it was just that, a bolder, with not a marking on it. Mairon tilted his head in confusion. It was just a normal rock… unless. He glanced at Nuriko with a raised eyebrow. He knew Nuriko, there had to be something else to this boulder if his partner had taken the time to lead them there. There had to be more than met the eye.
A sound of wings as Lyrica landed and approached the rock. The kirin watched with fascination as glowing markings began to slowly appear on the stone’s surface. They seemed to blur before settling into their determined place and coming into focus. It was a script of some sort, that much was certain. It looked old and that caught and held the kirin’s attention. He took a few steps closer and lowered his head to inspect the symbols. After a moment he sighed and shook his head a bit annoyed that he could be of no service. “I can’t make heads or tails of it.”
His pale gold eyes returned to the glowing script, this time not focusing on the writing itself but the way it had been written. Magic had to have been used to etch it into the stone. He wondered if the process had been similar to etching glowing runes into the blades of weapons. That he had seen before in Old Valore, but this was new. Plus writing on weapons made sense. Why go to the effort to write on a boulder in the middle of a field?

The boy's eyes met Nuriko's with confusion, but as the stallion continued to speak Reid nodded. He walked quietly behind the party of Seroran and Breimian equines, and a small hint of pride swelled in his chest. He had done this, and to see the way they all met together so perfectly made him even smile a bit.
Upon reaching the field, Reid could see the rock peaking its refined head from the earth. Immediately, his hooves pulled forward, eyes growing wide and focused. One knowing look to the hybrid who had brought them here, and he was off, trotting quickly and rather excitedly to the stone.
Reid's eyes traced the symbols etched into the surface, moving gently before stopping in their rightful place. The Arisen looked up, almost expecting to see Argus themselves appear before him.
Instead, he turned his head. "Where is It?" he questioned, though within seconds a spirit came rushing forward from within the crowd of equines, yipping as it ran toward Reid. In a few seconds, it became a tumbling Kitsune, tails moving back and forth as it settled on Reid's back. "Do you recognize this?" he hummed. It had been staring up at the stone as well, and though it couldn't read it, It barked a reply. "I've studied Ancient Breim more than I have anything else but... I can only recall a bit of this."
Reid pulled his gaze away, motioning toward the gathering to come forward.

The nerves that had claimed the mare previously when introducing herself had left. Taking some deep breaths, the mare's strong posture had returned and she was now watching the others turn and glance around. Acuna turned her head towards Lyrica before giggling at the mare softly when she spoke of 'managing other equines'.
"I'm happy to work with you too, miss." The Haflinger mix smiled brightly. There's a lot of equines back home that I can name who definitely need some sort of management". The mare's voice was calm and collected, since she didn't fully trust all the individuals there in that moment, except for the ones she directly knew from back home or exploring in Vasall. Acuna was being honest about the management of horses, specifically her own mother. If someone could knock some sense into her, Acuna would be happier for sure. Acuna didn't really mind people seeing her scars, as they had now started to define her more than make her feel self-conscious. When Nuriko started to speak, that's when her attention turned to him. She listened carefully and intently, her ears flicking around when everyone started to head down the warn farm path. Acuna soon followed with a very bouncy trot, before slowing down to a calming walk.
Logistics talk seemed interesting, but Acuna was... 'busy' watching as Lyrica had preformed tricks in the skies, under what Acuna believed was Alya's watch. It was a defeated sigh that came from Acuna, as she wished to have wings to fly up with Lyrica. It was a dream of hers when she was just a filly, but she was born of only common equine blood. It had been a while since she had seen a winged equine fly in the blue skies above, since Acuna had done everything she could to avoid looking up. But that's all she ever did; look up at something she couldn't even do herself.
The hour's walk to Acuna seemed to pass quickly as they reached a... very pretty rock in Acuna's mind. Her sunflower yellow eyes beamed when the rock started to glow ancient etched markings. The voices of the group seemed to have faded a little as Acuna made her way forward, rather hesitant since even she didn't know what this was.
"Acheron, have you ever seen something like this before in Sedo?" The young mare casted a glance at the other equine before back at the rock. Acuna moved herself closer, her muzzle almost but not quite touching the rock while she admired the symbols. She didn't know if a simple touch would activate more etched glowing symbols. A part of her wanted to touch the pretty rock, but, a part of her didn't want to. This rock was a certainly a mystery. Maybe those before the war knew what this was.. or maybe the gods knew what it was. The only thing she knew was that the swirling feeling of butterflies made this experience feel unsettling.
This didn't seem natural, at least to Acuna it didn't.

As Acheron spoke, Rori struggled yet again to wrap her head around the Seroran insistence in physical contact, in particular the need to touch affectionately when greeting. It was something that she suspected would continue to baffle her - there really was no need to go around kissing strangers hello. Another Breimian sensibility that was ingrained, but one that she understood the origin of a little more easily - the fact that affection was reserved for private moments and not just given out willy-nilly was what made it special, earned. Even if they did all view each other as family, that was no excuse for... for excessive familiarity with one and other.
And now Nuriko was being all mystic and mysterious, leading them off on a hike with no explanation beyond they'd unearthed a "something" which was so very descript. She snorted softly as she started off after them but refrained from rolling her eyes - she was in public company after all. She was less than impressed when she realised it was not a short hike to their unknown destination - she was easily the shortest in the group and her stride length suffered for it. She was hardly unused to breaking into trot in order to keep up with others, but she was unused to doing it in the heat of the sun, and as the trek went on it started to take its toll.
Her head was drooping a little when they finally came to a halt and introduced them to... a boulder. She raised an eyebrow, wondering if this was some kind of attempt at humour but.. the hybrid seemed serious enough. Her ears pricked however, when it started to glow upon Lyrica's approach. Despite the urge to go closer, she held back whilst some of the others approached, watching it with slightly narrowed yellow eyes. Eventually she approached hesitantly and not going straight up to it but instead opting to walk a wide circle around it before drifting closer to peer at the odd etchings. She lifted her attention away from it to look to Nuriko. "Is this the only one? How long ago was it found?" she asked. She bit back the question on why farming attempts around it had been abandoned - fear of the unknown was a powerful thing.

Conner Outcast
Greetings said and plesantries exchanged, Nuriko got right to the point of why they'd been brought together. Well, this was certainly shaping up to be far more interesting than he'd initially thought. Though, they had a long walk ahead of them it seemed.
Oh well, best use the time to his advantage. As they walked he opened up his book and began scribbling notes in it. Mainly about the farmlands they observed as they passed by, but also questions about what this potential artifact could mean. Old briemian technology? An artifact from the arcane god themselves? Who was to say. When they finally reached the field Nuriko had intended to lead them to, Conner was puzzled. It just seemed to be a plain old boulder in the middle of the farmland. He tilted his head quizzically and adjusted his glasses on his snout. What was so special about-?
And then Lyrica approached the stone, and several etched markings appeared on its surface. The inventor's eyes lit up and he began furiously scribbling down sketches of the boulder in a blank piece of loose leaf he'd stuffed into the journal days ago. The older kirin stepped closer to the rock and inspected its surface closely, replicating a few of the symbols on the pages of his book for later study. "Could this be, from the time of the gods war? Or even before it?" He murmured. He was, admittedly, overcome with fascination at the thought of something existing from his time. Even if it wasn't from the Aodhian herd of his time, something potentially that old made him feel, less alone.
Gently he reached out with his teke and touched the rocks surface, getting a feel for the texture and how deep the runes were carved.
"This is fascinating."

BOULDER Rock | Surface Dweller
Conner: As you make contact with the stone, the world around you seems to quickly fade away.
“What are those?” You hear yourself ask in a voice that isn’t your own as you look down at a small pile of pink seeds. “Those are obhe seeds.” A familiar, motherly voice answers. “They grow quickly here and will provide plenty of food for our herd through the winter.” You look up to see the golden mare smile at you before her gaze shifts behind you and her face contorts into an expression of terror as she lets out a blood curdling scream. The vision goes black and you are returned to the reality of your world.
The rest of the party: You watch as Conner goes stiff, into a trance like state as the stone seems to flare to life at his touch. A moment later, the glow dies down and Conner seems to return to normal.

Watching the group before him slowly venture up to the stone, he follows behind against Mairon's flank. To be honest, he wasn't sure he wanted his mate near the stone at all. The things within Sirith had been getting stranger and a touch more deadly lately. But he also didn't want to cause alarm, were alarm didn't need to be. So far the rock had merely just existed and sparked up now and then. Surely something like this couldn't be harmful.
Hopefully with this many heads, from this many herds, something new could come to light.
Mairon was the first to voice his unknowing and the hybrid merely nuzzled his shoulder once. "It's alright..." The hybrid spoke through Telepathy wouldn't even realizing it, trying to sooth his mates worries.
As Reid spoke, the once pure unicorn tipped his head. "Really? I didn't think any of the scripts within the libraries showed anything like this. I could be wrong, what does it say?" Curiosity got the better of him and he stepped closer. Mouth opened to answer Acheron, words on the tip of his tongue, until Connor grazed the stone with his teke and suddenly went rigid. Nuriko bumped Mairon's shoulder, trying to force him back a touch and place himself between his lover and the rock. Only when Connor stepped back and seemed to fold in on himself did Nuriko step forward. "Easy... Breathe." Water lifted from the ground, trying helping to stabilize the Kirin, should he need it, like bumpers on either side of him. "Are you alright?"
-As Nuriko becomes distracted with Connor's well being, the stone seems to start humming from deep within. It pulsates in a strange rhythm and the markings begin to glow brighter before everyone.-

He frowned, brow furrowed with deep concentration. "I don't... I don't know," he breathed, and his eyes shifted toward the kirin that approached. He gave him a simple nod, then looked back to Nuriko. "We haven't gotten to translating what little we have yet but... I'll have to send some of our more knowledgeable scholars up here to study it--"
The stone seemed to crackle with a newfound energy, and Reid's head snapped to the old equine that stood nearby, teke pressed against the surface, and within moments he returned back to normalcy. Or, at least, mostly normal. He appeared quite literally taken aback.
While he didn't know of what had happened to him, he could only assume it was some sort of... possession? That was all he could think of, all he could compare it to from what he had seen throughout his life. Slowly, Reid stepped away from the rock, head lowered to meet Conner's eyes. "What did you see?" It was quiet, hushed, but still soothing like a doctor comforting a patient. "You went away there for a minute... nothing hurts, no?"
The temptation to reach out, press a strong hold against the stone, was almost unbearable for Reid. His curiosity was something that often went untamed in Sterling, though it led to more reckless actions than anything. But he wanted to experience whatever it was that sent Conner to a different place, his mind seeming taken for just a moment.
The Arisen straightened, turning back to the stone. "Argus guide me," he whispered, the concentration never leaving his gaze as he stared at the rock. An ear remained tilted toward the kirin and Nuriko, thankful for the hybrid's abilities to steady him. Perhaps if he looked long enough, he would receive a sign, a clue to what the Arcane god's intentions were.

Lyrica stared in shock as the kirin brushed the rock with his teke before snapping into something of a trance. She walked closer, carefully avoiding the water barriers that Nuriko erected using his Blessing. She spoke softly, her ears flicked backwards.
"Conner, are you alright? What do you see?" As the trance went on, she began to fidget, hoping that the kirin would come out of it soon. Gently, she brushed his face with her teke, hoping to snap him out of it. "Conner, can you hear me?" she said, her voice wavering ever so slightly. She hoped that he would snap out of it soon.
As the kirin continued to stand still, Lyrica moved to back up, to attempt to push him back from the stone and break him out of his trance. As she did, however, her wings, which she unfolded to let the wind help her push the other equine, the feathers brushed the stone's surface, followed by her back legs as she unknowingly braced herself on the stone to push Conner back.

BOULDER Rock | Surface Dweller
Lyrica: As you brush the stone, the world around you fades away. You find yourself standing in a greenhouse, organizing numerous plants that you feel familiar with in the moment, but have never actually seen before. A dark shadow passes over top, almost resembling a kitsune in shape. You are fearful, but comforted by the shadows presence. A loud “CRACK” pulls your attention elsewhere as your heart begins to race. The vision goes black and the world seems to come back into focus. You think you can remember where the greenhouse was located....
The rest of the party: As Lyrica brushes against the stone, you watch as she seems to go rigid much like Conner had, with the stone flaring to life once again before resuming a dull hum and glow as she comes back to reality.

Acheron of SeroraTowards the end of the hike, the blue roan has begun to lag behind the rest of the ground; his legs are aching, unused to the hilly ground, and with every step his joints send a small jolt of pain up through his body. Arthritis, he might have diagnosed in one of his patients, where the cushioning between the joints had eroded away, but he has yet to give a name to his troubles; it would make them entirely too real for his peace of mind. Instead, he clings to the hope that he and Conner might yet find the secret to reformulating the cream he’d used to manage the pain before.
He catches up just in time to hear Acuna’s question towards him, his small ears swiveling towards her. “I don’t think so, no.” He answers Acuna, once he takes a moment to actually consider the strange, etched rock. The runes are like nothing he’s seen before, either in the books that Conner and Oriole had introduced him to, or in the few glimpses that he’d seen of the written word around Osulas.
“--Conner!” His attention is grabbed by the way Conner goes rigid when his teke touches the boulder, the Savior leaping forward without a thought for the pain his legs were already in. Briefly, he wavers when his front hooves hit the ground, his weight tilting towards the rock and his flank brushing against the etched surface, before he regains his balance and continues the forward momentum.
