RANZIR Leonides' apparent lightheartedness was unexpected, but ultimately it was all the same to Ranzir. He couldn't just stand here like some statue either. More than eager to step away from the room with the dead body in it, the quiet Chevalier turned to follow the blond stallion. There was no lack of rooms to explore, but before they could reach any of them, he stopped, his ear flicking at the muffled sounds. The soft sob seemed to have caught all of their attention - including Taavetti's canine companion - but the younger Chevalier was the quickest to act. The door gave in and Ranzir stepped closer, glancing inside alongside Leonides as Taavetti knelt before a bed. Curious, but hesitant, Ranzir kept his distance at first, his expression lighting up the moment a scared voice greeted the other Chevalier. His grip on his sword loosened and a relieved 'thank god' escaped his lips. A foal. There was someone left. Not just some animal, but a person. He hastily glanced at Leonides, but the merchant had already trotted to the next door. Perplexed by the stallion's disinterested reaction, but encouraged by the presence of at least one living resident, Ranzir walked to another yet shut door. Taavetti seemed to have everything under control, and as Leonides managed to break into the room next to Ranzir, the unicorn held his breath. Judging by the blond's expression, the effort had been in vain, but expressing his mild disappointment would have to wait. The Chevalier called after Leonides as the other suddenly headed toward the stairs, his tone sharp: "Halt!" He stared at the equine's back, alarmed by their careless plan. Had the man lost his mind, seeking to run around like a headless chicken? "Don't go wandering off on your own. We've got one dead body at our hands already - there's no need for another."Exhaling he glanced over his shoulder at the others, letting the closed door be - for now. Softening his tone he called out to Taavetti from the hallway: "How's the child? Are they hurt?"

║⇷ O M A R ⇸║ "As long as I am breathing, in my eyes, I am just beginning."
Hearing the others come up behind him, Omar stood stiffly, like a watchful statue, his gaze locked on the body in the room. The soft question from Isolt drew a simple grunt from his throat, "Don't know. No blood that I can see." He huffed lightly. Had the kirins gotten there ahead of them? How could they have passed through without them knowing? It hadn't even looked like a battle happened though. Did they have the ability to kill silently? The hell happened here?
Glancing back at Leo, he huffed lightly. Again, only a short phrase escaped him. "That ain't a passed out drunk patron, boy." He replied gruffly, casting a small glance to Asalah. He only gave her a short nod at her question. He trusted her to examine the body more than anyone else. Watching her step forward, he kept a slight position in front of the others to bar them from entering. The body did not move upon Asalah's touch, just like he predicted. No. It was dead.
One of the chevaliers was likely right, it likely wasn't the only one. Hopefully. The lack of evidence so far was unnerving. And to find one dead body, without any blood, where it looked almost peaceful... "I'd almost want to guess poison or asphyxiation... Only way they could have died without blood or a struggle," he muttered under his breath. But he had no way of telling.
Head jerking up to attention, sword lifted slight at the hooves clattering, he paused. No. That wasn't a kirin. Those were... Small hooves. It sounded like Rona when she was clambering after Jarl while they played... Taavetti was the one who moved to the door the whimpers came from. Seeing him make a move to break the lock, he managed to only get out a short phrase before it snapped, "Boy, be caref-!" and then the handle broke with a clatter. Ignacio be damned, this child had no sense of tact!
Turning away from the body and the room, he moved over, looking into it. Kaia's tits- It was a child. He shot an angry stare at Leonides when he mentioned busting in more doors. Did they want to get heard!? They were lucky it was just an actual, terrified child here, and not some trap set by a kirin. Still, it seemed his stare was not enough, as Leo moved to another door, breaking it open. Like that would help settle the frightened child. Growling lowly, he nodded in agreement with Ranzir. "Don't you dare fuckin' leave this inn alone. Take someone else with you. Someone who can handle a sword. I ain't about to get the blood of an Aodhian on my hooves, that's the last thing I need." He grumbled, looking into the room.
His gaze softened on the sight of the child, clutching a toy. Quietly, slowly, he put his sword away, softly stepping into the room and moving over to Taavetti before sinking to his knees. "Hello there, little one," he rumbled lowly. "That's a very nice toy you have there. Does it have a name? My name is Omar, and as he said, his is Taavetti." Jarl quietly padded up beside him, tail wagging, and the wolf took a step towards her. "And this is Jarl." With a gesture of his horns, he nodded to the wolf. "We won't hurt you, little one."

No movement. Asalah visibly relaxed as the others went about their business, moving from place to place and taking on the rest of the in with a renewed vigor. She barely heard the others talking as her ears roared with blood, a dull ache settling into her heart as she continued her examination. In the back of her mind, she could've sworn she heard the sound of tiny hooves, but the body was more important to her at that point in time.
Soon, she was the only one in the room with the body, though she had come to the quick conclusion that her anxiety wasn't making her hear the sounds of a child in the other room. No, based off of both Omar's and Taavetti's responses, alongside Ranzir's yell, the child was very real.
Finishing her diagnosis, the mare quietly slipped the sheets back over the dead body and walked out of the room. She'd tell Omar what she had figured out after the situation with the child was handled. With a quiet frown, she made her way back out of the hallway and towards the group at large. However, she kept her distance, knowing full well that some children were easily spooked... especially by a group as large as this one.
And besides, it sounded as if the others had a pretty reasonable grasp of everything for the time being.
As reasonable as a group like this could at least. By Ignacio's light, she really hoped that the child would help fill in some gaps here. Little of this story was adding up, especially if these were the only two horses in the entire inn.
I hope the dead horse in the other room isn't the child's parent. I would not want anyone to have to deal with that kind of loss... let alone a child.

Isolt | Labor Slave
Isolt watched the goings-on with an interest that was almost tactless. She showed no sympathy looking at the body - only curiosity. The mule watched Asalah look over the body, wondering what sort of things she might be trying to find. Omar gave his suggestions as to what might have happened, and she nodded studiously even though she didn't have a clue what "asphyxiation" meant. Even as the others began to file out she stuck around a moment longer, hoping the doctor might find something of interest. Instead, the commotion in the other room finally drew her away. She glanced at Asalah, waiting to see if she was also coming, but at the present she seemed still too wrapped up with the body. Isolt turned out of the room, and headed across the hall to peek over the shoulders of the stallions. Oh? A child? It was unexpected, certainly, but she had honestly hoped for something different. Another dead body, perhaps. She might have preferred that, honestly. Children got on her nerves. Those that lived in the dark district were often crying and needy, and those that ran free in the streets had always been underhoof. And also crying and needy. And they were always causing trouble. This one for example. Why had it not just left when everybody else did? She frowned, but the chevaliers seemed more than capable of handling the child. Turned, the slave watched Leonides to see if he might find something else. She almost offered to go along with him to continue exploring before Ranzir's sharp correction rang out. The champion, too, threw in a reprimand, and Isolt was glad that they weren't directed at her. Though she hated that he added "someone who can handle a sword." That was not her, and so she would simply have to wait until someone else made a move, or this child gave them some information.

Leonides | Merchant Again, the wood under his hooves made gentle noises as Leo tried to make his way through the crowded hall. It was barely wide enough to keep them all, adding the canines running between their legs. So the young stallion didn’t get far before Ranzir called out for him to halt. Leo disliked the sharp tone and he paused only to look back at the Chevalier in annoyance. "Don't go wandering off on your own. We've got one dead body at our hands already - there's no need for another." Leo almost felt insulted by those words, like he would die in this abandoned village. It annoyed him immensely that everyone was so on edge, when there was clearly no danger. Leo seemed to be the only reasonable soul here, for Omar agreed with the Chevalier, though his words were not nearly as elegant. Leo simply rolled his eyes at the drama, but he didn’t continue for the stairs. He considered asking Ranzir to come down with him, but the unicorn had turned his attention to Taavetti and the foal again. Leo let out a sigh and leaned against the wall. He watched Omar go inside the room, raising thick eyebrows at the sight of the heavy draft dropping to his knees. The Champion proceeded to address the frightened child in a manner that convinced Leo he was looking at a dad. Leo pursed his lips and lowered his voice. “Look, you guys seem to think there must’ve been some kind of fight going on here, clearly there wasn’t, ask the little spark.” He said, pushing off the wall again and nodding to the bedframe. The blond stallion moved to the edge of the group, glancing at Isolt for a moment. At least the slave seemed calm and collected in this situation, which he appreciated. Leo stopped when he reached Asalah, flanking the young doctor. “How are you holding up?” He asked softly, watching the anxious mare. He could at least understand her unease. It was a pity that such a pretty face was now holding a worried frown.

"How you holding up?"
Asalah was more than a little thankful that she didn't exactly spook easy, though she had missed Leonides hoofsteps completely. Looking up, she smiled lightly, though it didn't quite reach her eyes as she did so. "Well enough. I'm a bit troubled but that's to be expected in a situation like this." She paused slightly, wondering if it'd be best to explain her findings now or later. Omar was pretty busy, though Leonides at least seemed willing to lend an ear.
"Your statement about the poor soul in the other room didn't by any means seem to be too far off... It seems as if they did just 'snooze through the evacuation' to an extent. They're definitely dead, but I can't find anything unnatural about their death by any means." She sighed lightly, turning her gaze towards the child. Unlike the slave, Asalah was actually quite fond of children at this point, considering her own burdens she had at home.
Her heart ached for the child to an extent, though she knew she needed to focus on... well... she couldn't say the task at hoof by this point. She wasn't exactly sure what to do at this point... Even if they took the child back to the city... what did they accomplish by coming out here? "None of this is adding up..." She grumbled.
